@JohnKuro Just a barber's straight razor w/ disposable blade. Most barbers I've gone to use these. You can get them at most beauty/barber supply stores or you can order them online. These are EXCELLANT. They are just like the old-fashon straight razor, but instead of having to sharpen the blade, you can just throw the blade out and put a new one in. You can usually get replacement blades at CVS or Walgreens, they just don't carry the actual piece that holds the blade.

I know you can use a straight razor but you need some skills to actually use one. The clippers in the video are much easier to master. The head of the clippers used in the video don't look like those that I've seen online. It allows for a much closer cut as can be seen by the fresh lineup. Dude doesn't even need to use a straight razor

@JohnKuro Oh, I'm sorry. I misunderstood what you were referring to. I've heard the Andis "T"-blade trimmer/edger is very good, but I don't own one personally. I saw a WAHL groomsman at Wal-Mart ($29.00) that had a fine-tooth T-blade like the andis. I belive this is another one that will do the trick, and I'm probably going to get one myself (the WAHL groomsman).

I know exactly what you mean, though. It's hard to find a close cut with most electric trimmers. I've always heard WAHL or Andis, tho

@JohnKuro I can't think of a particular website right now, but try doing a google search for: "barber's straight razor with disposable blades." That should bring up about a million different places that will ship these to you for a reasonable price, and you can also order replacement blades in bulk too. This is probably the best way to go; you can find a wide variety of styles, and you can get several hundred replacement blades for dirt-cheap!

A tip to people who would like a fresh line without having to cut larger pieces of your hairline off (if you have a weird hairline like me)

It may sound wierd, but get some eye liner (make-up). you don't gotta tell anyone about it but very LIGHT strokes repeated in necessary areas will not only make your line look cleaner/straighter, it will fill in any 'gaps' in the hairline like the guy in the video has right in the center of his forehead. smudge in direction of line to blend hardlines

-That's just a barber's straight razor. The old fashoned ones needed to be re-sharpened (the kind they used to swipe across that leather strap), BUT, the straight razors that most barbers use today, have a regular razor blade (like the type of blade that goes in a box cutter) that you can replace when it gets dull. You can find these at any barber or beauty supply store, OR order them off the net. Every barber I've ever gone to uses these.

-Just as with ANY type of razor, it is very sharp and CAN cut you if you don't know what your doing, but 99% of the barbers who use these, DO know what they are doing, and wont leave you with any knicks or cuts. Hell, if a barber does not know how to use a straight-razor, he's probably NOT a good barber to go to for a line-up ;) You can find alot of tips on the net on how to use a straight-razor properly. Always make sure you pull the skin tight so you don't cut into the skin.

In fact, the barber generally uses the T-blade first to get the line, and then he will go over it with the straight razor to "sharpen" the line up and get any hair stubble down to the skin, so it's smooth and tight. Yea, you definately don't HAVE TO use a razor, a T-blade by itself is fine. One thing to always keep in mind, is to TAKE AS LITTLE OFF AS POSSIBLE. If you take the line too far back, it may look OK at first, but once it starts to grow, it will look bad.
