@Animemangakun - Well, when you have a child born with cataracts, you & his specialist can do something else. How is it cruel to upload this to youtube? If anything, it has been helpful to others in similar situations. If you don't like it, don't watch it. This was taken almost 2 years ago. He's now a happy, healthy 3 year old who begs to have his contacts put in because he can't see without them.
@DistroKing - Thanks for your comment. He is doing great with his contacts & glasses (he wears bifocals over contacts). This was right after we started with contacts 2 years ago. He now begs to have them put in because he knows they help.
you are an inpriration, thanky ou for your videos, i am a parent in the same position. i admire your "matter of fact"ness. it seems just a part of daily routine, like brushing teeth and washing your face. please don't stop posting, my 3yo watches your vidoes and it has helped us so much!
it's not easy having a child needing extra attention and care than most, you are doing what you have to to give your children the best outcomes, good on you.....
Thank you for making this video. Was extremely scared about getting contacts this weekend but now that I see that children this young have no problem, then I'm sure I will be fine hehe
this is cruel . I don't care if you did your ' god damn research ' or whatever crap you did this stupid ! no baby should have to go through this stick with normal glasses you try hard if an excuse of a mom. say all the hate you want to me my opinion is my opinion and I know it was your decision but you made a stupid one! And the fact that you would post a video of your child crying and nit wanting the contacts in ? Yeah that's bit helping anyone in your " position " I don't get why god would pu
@Msblahblah987 - Do you have nothing better to do than comment on stuff you know nothing about? He had been in contacts for 2 months at the time & was sick with a stomach virus. Of course he was crying. He is now a happy, healthy 2.5 year old who asks for his "tontacts" every morning & cries only when we take them out because he cannot see. His prescription is far too strong for glasses (they would be too thick & heavy to stay on his little nose).
@Msblahblah987 - You don't know why God would...what? Give a baby cataracts? Give his doctors the knowledge to do what is best for his visual health?
We aren't doing this because we want to. We have to. Sure, it's hard, but lots of things that must be done are hard. He wears glasses (lined bifocals) OVER his contacts as his condition requires both to be able to see both near & far. If you had bothered to read before spewing your incoherent crap on a stranger's video, you might know that.
@funnycoolgirl1 - Grow up! I never said I was the BEST mom, but I'm a damn good one who is doing what's best for HER child. A mom whose decisions were made after much research & with her child's best interests in mind. I don't need some random teenager's approval.
My video was to help other parents in the same position we're in (congential cataracts are pretty rare, occuring in 0.4 % of births.
@funnycoolgirl1 You are ignorant. and should do some research before you go calling someone a bad mother. They obviously do this for a reason, they have talked to specialist and have their childs best interest at heart. Trust me this hurts more for the parents then it does the child. I don't even remember how it felt when my parents put my contacts in but my parents tell me stories of how my grandma would freak out every morning thinking my contact was lost inside my eye. aww how she suffered.
@funnycoolgirl1 You are ignorant and should do some research before you go calling people bad parents. They obviously do this for a reason, have talked to specialist, and just have their child's best interest at heart. Trust me this is more painful for the parents then it is for the child. I don't remember getting my contacts put in when I was three months. You seriously pissed me off. wow. I don't know why this would evoke so much anger in me.
@xxLaCoquettexx - I don't usually let things on the internet upset me, but for some reason, she really, really pissed me off. I hate when people talk about stuff they know nothing about. I don't mind when people ask questions, like the other person did, but @funnycoolgirl1 just pissed me off.
Thanks for your comment on 'Jamie's contacts' . Hi from Scotland! Sorry there are such ignorant comments being posted here. For all you haters out there - this is a congenital condition that affects babies all over the world from birth. Surgery removes the cloudy lens completely, but also removes the eye's power to focus. Contacts are a necessary replacement so our children can SEE! Our videos are to reassure new parents who are struggling with putting lenses in that the kids get used to it.
It's hard to do something your kids need and they DON'T LIKE IT! I know it broke my heart every time I had to hold my boys down for their shots. My son Tobias has a lazy eye and the ophthalmologist said surgery might be an option. :(
I beg to differ, as would the American Academy of Ophthalmology and pediatric ophthalmologists around the world. I am a wonderful mother who is doing what is best for her child. Trust me...we're not doing it to be cool or to do something asinine like attempt to change the way his eyes look. This is a medical necessity.
Why don't you go Google and read just one link (a fraction of what I've read) on bilateral congential cataracts and then come back and tell me I'm a bad mom?
This was painful to watch. If I were his mom, I wouldn't do that! I know it's appropriate, but it's so cruel uploading this on YouTube.

@hollybug1985 - Sorry about your son's eye. It's always hard to hear the word "surgery" in the same sentence as your child's name!
At 19 months, we no longer have to hold him down. He lays on the bed & lets me pop them right in!

what a good mommy! It takes a lot of strength and love to do something you have to when your baby doesn't like it. Cutie pie BTW!

@chubbs16able - Babies younger than him wear them too! He had cataracts removed at 11 months old.
