Amazing vid. And no I don't find PJ to be a tool just a regular Urban City Kid with a chip on his shoulder...try to knock it off and see what happens...
Absolutely worth seeing - attended the IL film festival last summer and HAD to see it - didn't WANT to. Ended up staying until the end - great coming of age epic. Trailer may be deceiving - 'cause nothing about the story-line speaks to a false sense of entitlement.
but its unfair when those rollerblading pros just get lets say 18000 a YEAR by doing such great things and risk a lot just for rollerblading because they love what they do...if you compare it to some football player bzw soccer player who earn millions of euro/dollar a year even if they should play bad just because of advertisement in addidas advertisment....
Here is the REASON that rollerblading pros get 18K and soccer players get 100 times that: soccer is 100 times more popular than rollerblading. It is the market that determines salaries, not ceo's. The people are telling you that they would rather watch soccer. This price mechanism is how resources get sent to sports people care most about.
Markets are democratic.
You may think it is not fair, but the world does not owe us big bucks.
And I was a pro-in-line skating instructor for 10 years.
Freesk8 is right. salaries are based on demand. If skating were popular enough, Aragon and the others could be rich. Yes what they do is awesome.. I think. Would I pay for a cable channel of skating, a section in the newspaper for skating, and Daily Bread to come back? of course.. now get enough people onboard and it will happen.. Otherwise the skate for the love of the sport just like the rest of us.
I saw this film at a D-structure this past weekend and WOW! It was excellent. It was about time someone put enough effort into making a skate video that truly shows the world what it is that skaters find so wonderful about what they do.
i was fortunate to see a screening of this last night and it was incredible. i am a board rider (surf and skate) and never before have i felt such a desire to try on some boots. cant wait to get myself a copy of this film and you all must see it!
I'm so happy to hear that, seriously. It's true rollerblading and rollerbladers shouldn't be OWED fame, fortune, etc. etc. But should they consciously work hard enough like this film suggests, we really OUGHT to be put back in the spotlight at least a LITTLE. I mean we've all known that the sport has the potential to be as popular as say skateboarding, snowboarding, motor cross, etc. so why not work to get it there. Maybe THEN we all could actually buy a pair of skates from a SKATE SHOP.

No one "Deserves" jack.
YOU get people interested in your sport.
YOU run events, promote and build your sport.
THEN maybe, if your sport is more popular than some other Olympic sport, then maybe they will let you have an Olympic event.
But the world doesn't owe you jack.

Do you mean like organize, promote, and attend a national series of competition events and make a feature length documentary?
Please get your head out of Bob Barr/Ron Paul's ass. Until then you "Deserve' a slap you arrogant prick.

Near the start, some guy says that he deserves to be given an event for his sport.
I stand by my claim that his attitude is bad.
I wish you the best of luck in promoting your own sport. I hope you make a lot of money at it.
But I just hate it when people claim they deserve fame and popularity and money.
I say "earn it."
