So, Is it just me? or does $800+ sound completely ridiculous for a sports knee brace? I dislocated my knee cap about 2 months ago, and have Lacrosse coming up in the Spring time so i'm looking for a good brace to give my knee the support it needs without risking further injury. At the same time, i'm only a high schooler and sure as hell don't have a spare $800 lying around. If so, Does anyone know of any alternatives I could turn 2 4 less? I have a Spandex/Polyester brace with a knee guard now.
Tore my ACL twice since December, finally done with surgery, getting my knee rehabbed nice and well (which is tough considering I'm a college student) and am so relieved I'm getting this brace... especially for those late college nights when I'm not fully functional!
I'm getting this for free and cause of medi caid thanks god my mom had me when she was 17 lol. But the guy came to fit me and they are really nice and he had me put a random one on and it felt good.......An to all of you who say to work out yeah that helps a little ( trust me i play football in texas) and you all know its life here but this brace will help me perform better in football. (Tore ACL and Meniscus)
Hi, I'm 13 and I sprained my knee about a week ago. My docter said I should just wrap it ( on crutches ) and now I am going to get off crutches and am looking for a brace. I partially tore my ACL and PCL. On a pain scale it is 7. Do you recommend a brace that I should use without " breaking the budget"?
@Bolduccjperson1 looking for the same thing man... I ride dirtbikes and my kneese take a beating when on hill climbs/motocross track jumps. Crashes dont help either. Walmart has a none metal one ive seen, and target also has one too.
Free with my insurance.. but uh.. I'm 8 months post op and I can say that the brace doesn't help as much as getting into the weight room and doing exercises and getting the muscles back. Using the brace, though it may keep the knee from buckling, will really do no other benefit than that.. Just do leg exercises and get strong quads and hammys and you be straight.
I can personally assure you that there is a marked difference in pain and instability when walking with the brace versus walking without. I feel MUCH more secure, and my knee buckles much less often and to a lesser degree. As I said, I was able to perform various physical activities WITHOUT an ACL or MCL, and this brace held me together phenomenally. Post surgery, it's been wonderful as well. I cannot recommend this enough for those with knee injuries. Get. It.
Speaking from personal experience, I can say that these braces are a God send. I blew my knee out playing basketball; tore my ACL, MCL, meniscus, and had a microfracture in the cartilage. I couldn't afford to miss the amount of school required for rehab, so I waited five months before having surgery. In that time, I wore this brace. Forget weak grafts, I didn't have anything, but the brace allowed me to run, jump, even play ball.
Go to "google scholar" and do an "advanced search" of "knee bracing". Some researchers in this area are not convinced that knee braces are a benefit vs not using them. I have no conflict of interest regarding this subject.
The best preventative solution is going to the gym
Do these braces work? I have no ACL, PCL, and have a damaged MCL (all in the same knee). I asked a knee specialist about the potential benefits of functional knee braces and he wasnt convinced, so neither am I. Am I wrong?
