Karate is not originally Japanese. It is originally Okinawan. The Okinawan word for karate was Tode, or China Hand. Okinawan Karate and Wing Chun are much closer than you think. Compare the sil lum tao (wing chun) with tensho (karate). You will see the similarity.

You forgot Wing Chun. Both Chan and Lee studied that particualr form of martial arts. Lee studied under the famed IP Man, and Chan under Leung Ting. Both were well versed in various styles, and both are credited for mixing and creating their own styles as well. To say that one is better than the other...well, it simply cannot be said.

I will answer in a very straightforward manner. Jackie was a better stuntman and comedian but Bruce was a true martial arts master. Lee used filmmaking to prove and to demonstrate his fighting theories while Jackie exaggerates often by adding wild stunts and a lot of wire work. If you watch Jackie fight, you will be entertained but when you watch Bruce, you might learn something.
Jackie Chan also seems to be better at using the enviroment for combat. They say he does his own stunts so does that mean he comes up with it all at that time. I don't know the truth, but if it is then he's preety decent at it.
Jackie actually doesn't use much string and wire work except in films that force him to do some sort of super power type stunts, like the Medallion. Most of his stunts are real.

This is how it is. Bruce Lee would probably win in a fight with Jackie, even though they both do their own stunts, are amazing martial artists, and have had a very long career of fighting. Jet Li is also good, but he's mainly just an actor. Sylvester Stallone is just an actor too, but I bet he can fight pretty well, not as good as Bruce Jackie or Jet though. And Chuck Norris? Give me a break. He's a straight actor, he'd whoop me in a fight, but he wouldnt stand a chance against the above guys.

if you know jackie chan's history he has studied tai chi, shaolin kungfu, hapkido and also wing chun... its not just choreography, jackie chan is an excellent martial artist but not to the point of master. Bruce Lee on the other hand mastered wing chun and jeet kwon do. Jackie will knock you down in less then a second so don't underestimate him.

one moment here. i've seen an interview of jackie saying he knows 4 different kinds of martial arts. bruce lee has his own style. he is fast and powerfull. but jackie is fast too and can dodge. he is using the environment a lot which bruce is not.

I will answer in a very straightforward manner. Jackie was a better stuntman and comedian but Bruce was a true martial arts master. Lee used filmmaking to prove and to demonstrate his fighting theories while Jackie exaggerates often by adding wild stunts and a lot of wire work. If you watch Jackie fight, you will be entertained but when you watch Bruce, you might learn something.

Jackie Chan also seems to be better at using the enviroment for combat. They say he does his own stunts so does that mean he comes up with it all at that time. I don't know the truth, but if it is then he's preety decent at it.

Jackie actually doesn't use much string and wire work except in films that force him to do some sort of super power type stunts, like the Medallion. Most of his stunts are real.

Neh.....All you need do is look at anything Jackie has from the 80's to see what he was actually capable of. Hell, the man ran barefoot over a hot bed of coals 4 times before he got the shot he wanted, and in another instance, he jumped from one moving boat to another with a broken leg just to get a legit shot. His actual style of MA is somewhere between Drunken boxing, Wing Chun (which Lee studied under IP Man), Tong Long, and Bak Mei. No doubt, both Lee and Chan were well versed.

This is how it is. Bruce Lee would probably win in a fight with Jackie, even though they both do their own stunts, are amazing martial artists, and have had a very long career of fighting. Jet Li is also good, but he's mainly just an actor. Sylvester Stallone is just an actor too, but I bet he can fight pretty well, not as good as Bruce Jackie or Jet though. And Chuck Norris? Give me a break. He's a straight actor, he'd whoop me in a fight, but he wouldnt stand a chance against the above guys.

His development of Jeet Kune Do was not a hodge podge as you say but a style of more effective moves. Jackie Chan also was in Chinesse theatre, I suppose he can't fight also?

if you know jackie chan's history he has studied tai chi, shaolin kungfu, hapkido and also wing chun... its not just choreography, jackie chan is an excellent martial artist but not to the point of master. Bruce Lee on the other hand mastered wing chun and jeet kwon do. Jackie will knock you down in less then a second so don't underestimate him.
