I'm a metalhead, and would put Gibson ahead of Fender any and every day. Also, ESP stomps Ibanez's pathetic little butt. Then again, it's my opinion, which brings me to my point: Even if you've got two metal heads, they probably have differing opinions about which guitar sounds better. A Les Paul has the heavy fattest sound I've ever heard, whereas a Fender is much brighter and more treble-y. It's just down to opinion.

I have only bought 1 guitar for under $500, and that was a starter Peavey. My second cheapest guitar is 800+ and has gone up in value. so 899~1000 for this is cheap :P
