what if the grass on the side of the green is around 1-1/2 to 2 inches thick and the ball is sitting up on top, or fluffed up, still on an uphill lie. I always play it like a normal pitch shot with the ball in the back of my stance because i dont know what else to do.
this is absolutely amazing.... I watched this before my junior golf america tournament and shot a 74! Thank you so very much shawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE YOU SHAWN! The key is for the head to be behind the ball. This has worked for EVERY stroke today and i shot a 78 (A PERSONAL BEST). THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just go to my website to see the full listing at shawnclementgolf dot com on the "You Tube Shawn" page and look for "downhill pitch over bunker" and look for "On the Slopes" as well;
I have seen those, excellent, but it seems to me that the downhill chip (vs. pitch that you show) has a slightly different technique, with the ball further back in the stance, different wrist angle, etc.
Yes, very helpful. I especially like that you mention the downhill swing path and the left shoulder/armpit connection. One thing I feel slightly different for myself though: Rather than "toss + fall", I don't let it fall but rather use more of a "shoulder back + forth" rocking movement (as when putting). Using/Feeling my shoulder gives me more control than just letting it "fall".
Yes, very good, this is how you want to go about it and I am sure you do it without interrupting momentum as this is the key; as long as the pushing through with your right shoulder does not feel jerky...Nice exchange Philip! Shawn
This is a very natural thing that comes automatically from the proper swing; the pros don't try to do this, they know it will happen and they play their shot in consequence to this; if you follow the technique I give you here and in the "Golf Pro Lesson short game" video; then get yourself a new sand wedge from with Zip Grooves from Cleveland or Spin Milled from Titleist and a soft covered ball like the Pro V 1 or the Bridgestone B330; you will have the results you are looking for;
i would like to know how the pros do that shot like from 60 yards it bonces once and stops dead if i do that i release 15 yards past why how do i do that
Every video says put your wieght on the front foot and it always seems like it is an uphill shot to the green which makes it hard to do.
I think it is way too easy to for the bogey golfer to stick the club in the ground behind the ball if he/she puts his weight on the front foot.
Go with plan B.

OK, fair enough, I am going to be doing a fine tuning short game to prepare everyone for the season, I will make sure to put this in for you;
Stay tuned! Shawn
