I have a 2008 Bullitt, Looking seriously at this vehicle. The interior is far superior than my Mustang. After the test drive of the GTI it corners much better. On a straightaway though Bullitt wins as far as power goes. In "Warrior vs Warrior" terms very even. GTI: Beter interior, better cornering, better mpg. Mustang: I like the muscle car simple look of the Bullitt, better straighaway power. I think I'll keep the miles down on the Bullitt and have some fun with this car. Great Video.

honestly, we haven't looked at the Mustang YET. We are heading toward some domestic reviews. I will say that I love VW/Audi. Just a lot of great stuff going on there, ya know. But check back for the Mustang. Prob in a few months!

@CoonBabble Actually yes I would pick the VW, it handles better, its more practical better gas milage, and has a higher top speed 0-60 is about the same if you turn traction control off, however it is faster 0-100, the car corners much better, it does not feel or sound like a 4 cylinder. It is a joy to drive, especially in Manual transmission. Thats my opinion though.

@drats34 i like the gti and all... but the 0-60 is NOT as fast as a the similarly priced mustang gt (4.6L) the 0-60 on a gti is 6.8 seconds, the mustang's is 4.9-5.0. dont get me wrong, i know there is more to a cars performance than 0-60 times, i just KNOW the gti is not as fast as the $25k mustang gt mustangs im looking at

If you want a great handling, practical, mature, attractive (mustangs are old news lookswise), powerful, EASILY UPGRADEABLE car, then get a GTI, if you want a straight-line, immature, easy-to-spot-by-the-cops type car, than get a stupid ass mustang... mustangs blow, seriously

Nice original review! Very entertaining. I'm kind of gathering that the GTI is a cut above its competition as far as quality and enjoyment go. Originally, I was dead set on getting a WRX due to the fact that its blazing fast and has all wheel drive (I live in New England). I guess its time to start test driving instead of looking at numbers.

I drive a 2007 GTI with almost 25K miles, mostly in the New York City area. I've read some horror stories online from VW owners, and even owned an old Golf that was just dreadful. However, the Mk5 and Mk6 GTI's are assembled in Germany, and the improvement in quality has been phenomenal. My only complaint is some rattles in the cabin, but the streets and highways here are worse than Afghanistan. Finally, you must check the oil as often as possible. Turbos and traffic don't mix.

the 4 cylinder turbo is a great engine! the transmission is equally as good except repairs can be a bit high! this is a drivers car no doubt! i have never had a problem with any of them and if i dont have my foot on the gas, im standing on the brakes.. the vehicle is definitely german quality and will last you for my years to come! if i were you i would buy one asap! haha
