@CherokeeConfederate My GGG grandfather Abner Massey of Banks County, Georgia near Currahee Mountain, the boundary of the old Cherokee Nation, is supposed to have been half Cherokee, and fought with Lee's Army of Northern Virginia in the Confederate Army. His son James Franklin Massey, learned Cherokee as a child, and joined the Confederate Cavalry at age 14. After the James went west to Texas and Oklahoma, to escape Reconstruction, & to live with ex Confederate Cherokees.
I find it laughable that it is not mentioned that the man Lt. Col Parker worked for Gen. Grant was PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE for the Indian Massacres which took place after the close of the War for Southern Independence. Sheridan, Sherman, Crook and Custer were the leaders of this genocide against the indigenous peoples.
Ely Parker was the chief of the Seneca India Nation. Lee DID mistake him-too many people have documented that it did occur. This is not revisionist in anyway, The NPS people have verified-and they are decidedly non-political in their presentations.
Why do you ignorant idiots have to put the language you do? See below. You really do show how ignorant you really are.
The Native Americans who fought for the Confederacy got cheated out of everything. They got the worst treatment by their fellow Confederates after the war was over.
@MondoBeno Thats bull shit they were treated the best the damn yankees was the ones who ran them out of there homes and forced them to suffer the trail of tears i suggest you go read true history not the history the government wants you to belive. Viva los Confederados!!!

Strange, but I believe that this singing is taken from an ancient IRISH air, not Native American.
