  • I don't know how many times I have listened to this but I never tire of hearing it.

  • @presentlightoftruth Beautiful suggestion. May it happen to all mankind.

  • A finger pointing to the moon.Which are you looking at?

  • This whole video was great. Search "Adyashanti Gift of Wanting" on youtube, there's a full length clip (almost 2 hrs), beautiful. Thanks for posting this.

  • Gurus, prophets, spiritual guides, or whatever you wish to call them, only attempt to point at the truth, they are not the truth. A street sign is not the street. Our own experience is the truth; if not, we are only followers. What good is that?

The more we share our experiences the less we find they are unique and the more our common humanity is revealed. Being spiritual is about being human, living on this planet with other humans. Religion is another form of bondage. Freedom is beyond it.

  • why cant we just die and be nothing? do people just give value to themselfs through there ego, maybe to be nothing is ok

  • @useruseruser111 Great comment.

  • Just as amazing as always. Listening for 10 years now. Blessed life.

  • @MoniqueMartineau have you asked yourself what happens when he's gone?

  • @phobik2000 yes, we'll be fine. the inner guru doesn't go anywhere.

  • the truth that when it comes off your lips it feels like the most intimate thing that you could possibly say...

  • watch youtube video:

    TEDxBlue - Daniel J. Siegel, M.D. - 10/18/09

  • Surrendering to "what is" does not mean you have to stay in a relationship that is damaging to your soul and that robs you of your life. You surrender to what is, then you see the truth and you are better able to make clear concise decisions.

  • What's that debate about the leather lounge ? Or the "crappy" comment ? You people are so easily distracted. And I must admit that I am one of those "You people" myself.

I did not quite understand what Adya was going on at the end with the knife slicing through the self...? What was that all about ? Can someone enlighten me ?

  • @LeCanadienerrant Hi there, You know how if you are arguing with a person, some things can be said that are mean, hurtful etc? So he is saying if you are totally present, in your true nature, and you partner says something mean or hurtful, you will not be hurt or offended etc. because there will be nothing there that could be hurt or offended ie. your ego. Not an easy feat most would say, yet actually the easiest thing in the world to do, we are just not used to doing it!!! Hope that helps.

  • total crap.

  • try surrendering to a bipolar who spends your money like its confettii and clings to you like the last ship on the sea.

  • u surrender to the fact, and the fact may b you let her or him go, and surrender to that

  • well he has known alot of love and kindness.I hope he will carry it with him and find strength in it.I have to let myself go now.your words are beautiful but only words.survival is complex and involves knowing.what you know carries you. What I dont know is what I need to find out in order to carry myself. Our conclusions may differ according to our enviornments.

  • @luckylangerie my dear human...you make a choice of bipolar person to be in your life.Ask yourself why

  • odd turn of phrase "my dear human".I hope you are aware that you also are human otherwise im talking to another nut job.He asked for my help and I stayd.I will leave soon enough.

  • Beautiful. Cutting. Leaves no room for excuses.

  • beautiful - to hear this again and again

  • Is Adyashanti sitting on a leather seat? Pleeese - tell me it isn't?

  • Yup, it's a leather seat. Find some other goru.

....Just kidding, but i hope you get the point. ;)

  • what is wrong with a leather seat?....

  • ?????? Really? Where does the leather come from? How was it produced? They are cutting down huge tracts in the amazon now to make room for leather-producing animals. Not great for the animals and definitely not great for the planet. my comment about leather couch does not necessarily reflect on Adya.

  • Leather seats are great, just like pineapples, broken legs, soap, CO2, screams and butterflies...

  • you're funny.

  • wow - for there to be pain there must be defensiveness, resistance. Otherwise, freedom - for you and other to be as you are. No shoulds or shouldn'ts. Yes

  • Anyone here read Emptiness Dancing? How did you like it..

  • got it on my shelf. It's very good. Haven't read it through yet, but keep dipping into it for inspiration.

My main practice is Tibetan Buddhism.

  • Yah what do you practise? I do a bit of chanting "Amitabha" is what I chant. Emptiness dancing is quite cool cause it [points towards freedom/enlightenment/nature of mind. At least I think so I dont know much about this kind of stuff.

  • I practice with a Karma Kagyu group. Mostly Shi-ne and Chenrezi practice. Also Guru Rinpoche.

I really like Adyashanti's Chasing Enlightenment clip.

  • yah I just watched that. Its great! For a moment I got it, then I started to get confused again. But still I really like that vid. (i.e. I got, one just needs to stop and not chase anything)

  • btw his new book I also bought, "end of your world"..its again fantastic I only read a few chapters here and there..I usually dont begin in the first chapter but just somewhere i feel lijke.. and its amazing....he deals so eloquently with the pitfalls of 'trying to be' enlightenment

  • I read it, except the last few chapters...i am more or less in truth..keep moving forward/backwards (appartently) but i dont need to read any more books..as so it feels to me

  • i was just reading emptiness dancing and i started to feel bliss! Its wierd. I like it!

  • yes I know, i experienced a lot of shifts and insights

  • do you find your insights to be permanent or temporary? Mine are always temporary (sorry if you already answered this)

  • well, i dont know...I guess temporary, but sometimes i can get quite caught up again. but thats not a bad thing necessarily..consciousness is that too....u should definitely read his next book too..'end of your world' it will definitely help u

  • im gonna order that! thanks.

  • Actually i just thought that talking about the journey after awakening may still be very relevant to me now, before awakening..

  • Hi! So i started reading the book "End of your World". Its interesting. It is about after awakening however, which i haven't achieved yet! Erm..

It is making me think, i have done a lot of work to improve my self esteem, and help to feel better in life. Is this path i have been on of trying to improve self esteem, and doing things which hav e really made me feel better in life, are they totally worthless?

not sure about that one! Man its a lot of confusion!

    S.

  • YOU don't achieve it. You never will achieve awakening. YOU are what disappears when awakening happens. You realize you don't ultimately exist. So in the end improving your self esteem will be worthless because hahaha there will be no self. Of course there is no self now, you just think there is lol. But of course do it if you want and it feels good. Sorry it's just a very funny thing when you get this...And there is no before awakening and after...that's all an illusion. Awakening is now.

  • can you help me to have an experience of awakening?

  • simon that self improvement is what u

surrended to that was the form then

see what are u surrendering now..so

the expectation is not there when surrendered and is perfect..hope this helps...Anna

  • I hereby welcome Big Tuna to his destined path to awakeness. All hail Big Tuna.

  • How beautiful this clip is. I can see this applies to any relating to another not just in partnerships. ahhh 'totally rested in the Beloved ones self.' - what tenderness.

  • he's great

  • thank god for adyashanti! he's so amazing. not too many teachers out there teaching true non-dualism.

  • nicolatwo, you dont love your husband - move on, dont use the decoration as an excuse..... the whole talk is about intimacy - which you clearly dont feel for the husband!

  • beautiful

  • Thank you Adya. It is seen one does not loose the 'you' in surrender - "You is found".

  • I'm an artist and it seems impossible for me to surrender to someone else's decoration skills and taste. If I surrendered to my husband, my world that I have created, my safe world, would get erased and replaced with something empty and ugly.

  • What is safe about your world? In 100 years from now your physical life will have collapsed, including your body and your husband's body. Your 'safe' world is subject to death. Look at this moment without your pre-conceived opinions and enjoy a new sense of openness. Your pre-conceived ideas is all you need to surrender. Anything pre-conceived is ugly, and in fact, empty of truth. It is beautifull to have them replaced with openness and innocense right now.

  • he is good, if one walks on his teachings, bell be happy in pease

  • takes so much energy to should each other....WE ARE SO ADDICTED TO THAT FORM OF BEING.

  • Beautiful words, beautiful teaching... He uses very simple words and yet so powerful. He is an inspiration for begining or continue with our practice, to realize the teachings, to incarnate them.

    Thanks for posting this...

    Saludos desde Chile.

  • sharing is impossible, thats how it is so precious a gift. citimonk
