Pagan Roman emperor Julius Caesar first established January 1 as New Year's day in 46 b.c. in honor of one of his Pagan god Janus . Janus was the Roman pagan god of doors and gates, and had two faces, one looking forward and one back. "January" the month named after this Pagan god Janus ,rituals of getting drunk and taking part in sexual activities , was a way the pagan romans pay tribute to honor their pagan god Janus.
