I disagree. It was too soon for her character to be less than angry at him. If she'd have taken straight to kissing him, it would make her character seem weak.
Also Steven is telling Karen Allen to hold Harrison's jacket with a firm grip and let it drop like cashimere. They didn't put the kiss in the movie because of the time.

I'd like to see the deleted scene where Indy rides the periscope to the deserted island. I use to have a photo of this from a book I owned.
Even in the novel, it talks about Indy riding the periscope from the sub to the deserted island.
