well done on the performance! I am doing my IP now and killing myself! I am so stuck could you help? I wrote 3min about an irish girl who is imprisoned for a pub bombing in the 60's based on true events, but now my teacher is telling me I don't have enough time to write my own and gave me a script on nurses in the vietnam war, what do you think i should do? also when abouts did you finish writing the script? thanks.

Ok, so I wrote my first monologue and the teachers didn't think it was the best option for me because I didn't relate to the character's age, occupation etc and there was no real arc to the story. So I went to the texts that they offered and finally found this one. I finished writing my first monologue after three-four months then I found that one about two months before the due date!

Read what your teacher has given you, everything helps. Its up to your gut feelings too. Your teacher has been doing this for a while, so listen to what she has to say. If u are a confident writer who has been acknowledged for your work prior HSC then give it a shot. If you feel insecure about it then take advice from your teacher and look at some plays. There are hundreds of great plays out there that offer some amazing monologues. Make sure u can relate to the character.

thank u. the monologue came from a short story written by Dof Dickinson, which I believe was called "Biker". I haven't looked at the text since then so I am uncertain of its title. I edited the text into a monologue.

how long does a monologue hav to be? i noticed urs exceedds 8min. btw, top job

It is allowed to be 6-8mins. That evening was a performance for the parents etc so I wasn't too concerned with the timing- however I did pick up the pace for the actual trials and HSC exam

IP was hard! How are u finding it? Thank you for your comment, very sweet. I did get nominated for Onstage for this piece which means that I was very close to full marks. My IP was changed 3 months before marking, so it was a blessing in disguise really. Let me know if u have any other questions- more than happy to help.

so as a yr 12 drama student i was wandering around on youtube, looking for some drama individuals and group works to gain inspiration for my own. sorting through all the crap ones, and then i come across this this one and its amazing. seriously brilliant. like im not hugely great at drama having no former experience really before hsc (funny im coming first in the class though...) my personal thing is music and the like, but yeah wow, i really felt the peice, you did an amazingly great job

Thank you for ur comment. It was a lot of work, but it was really worth it. Good for u for topping the class. That is a huge achievement and you should be very proud of that. Ur like me, my personal thing is music too. R u taking Music 1 or 2. If u can sing then try to incorporate that into ur drama monologue (basically show off everything u have!).
