Manjushri Initiation in Gaden Shartse (featuring commentary by Tsem Tulku Rinpoche)!!

I have not heard of any "old men" in Dharma who suffered from senility, Parkinson's or Alzheimer's. As we can see from the elderly Lamas in the monastery, old does not render them useless, sickly or weak. H.E. Kensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche can teach the great Scriptural texts, to bestowing initiations, helping the young monks, etc. This Lama is in complete control of all his faculties. Even at death, high lamas as such can even control their own death and rebirth. That's really amazing!

While watching this video, a scent of sandalwood incense came into my nose our of nowhere. and i proceeded to visualize the yellow Manjushri with his sword. There was no incense burning in my entire house :-)

I love to watch this video over and over again because of the wonderful energy of these monks and the sincerity and clarity of their practice. It is so different from me and just watching them and hearing their stories especially that of Kensur Konchok Tsering who led an exemplary life is a great inspiration to me.

It is very inspiring to see someone who has dedicated his whole life towards others. He is such an erudite master and great scholar and he impart all these onto his students with love, care and affection. It is so nice we have our masters so near to us. It would be sad if we are near and yet some of us choose to stay far.

it is very kind of Rinpoche to explain all of these to the general public because usually no one explains about all of these initiations....and i would really like to get one, and hold it for life. And make sure that i will achieve that Yidam's state before I die.

That's right! If it wasn't for our Lama who is so kind to train us and give us the advice and teachings so we can achieve Manjushri. Hence we always have the highest respect and fondness for such a kind person and never forget even if we are far from him. Even if we fall, we get up and resume and don't stay down.

Wow! I would really like to receive initiation too! It behooves me to practice harder so I can do the meditations to achieve the same state as Kensur Konchok Tsering and always in my future lives will I have the power to plan my rebirths and recognize my previous incarnation as some of these young Rinpoches in this video.

The sight and presence of such great masters is extremely inspirational for others to follow or inspire people to practice. This video is extremely powerful inspiration for staff, volunteers, liaisons etc of Kechara House because that is what they are working for and what they are trying to establish in TKL.

Happiness is largely dependent on one's action and its attendant self image. Wow! Such great masters are very inspiring because they spent their whole life for others and have no regrets and excellent self-image. They don't need to talk about themselves, they have others who do it for him. So will HE Tsem Tulku Rinpoche will become... simply amazing!

I agree. What Tsem Rinpoche spoke about is a good reflection for all of us. If we continue with what we are doing, we will end up being the old man that wasted our lives, compared to the old man who dedicate his life to Dharma like the great masters, who have became great masters due to their effort and dedication, starting when they were young.

It is true what Rinpoche said, the old man in Gaden versus lay people who do not know or practice Dharma. An old man having fun, hanging around, playing golf that could be thrown in the corner, or an old man like the Abbot Emeritus like Kensur Rinpoche here.

You can see in the video the current HH Zong Choktrul Rinpoche. He is the reincarnation of H.E Tsem Tulku Rinpoches root guru. Another great master of Gaden Shartse Monastery.

This really shows that Kechara people and Tsem Rinpoche sincerely wish for Dharma to grow. By sponsoring such a meritorious teaching and initiation, the person receiving the teachings/ initation and the sponsor will both benefit tremendously in terms of Dharma learning and practice.

I think sponsoring the Sangha will ensure the continuity of the lineage, and also perhaps the teachers that will teach these practices and pass on the lineage, compared to lay people or public.

It is very meritorious to sponsor teachings for the Sangha, and especially so with an initiation. This is because the person conferring the vows and the people receiving the vows are monks who have held their vows strictly and have dedicated their lives to Dharma study and practice.

Sorry to ask so many questions but what's the difference between sponsoring an initiation for the public and the monks? Wouldn't it be more beneficial for the mass as the numbers are more?

You asked many good questions. Perhaps you would like to share those questions (they are quite good for FAQ) on the Kechara forum? I am sure it will be of benefit to many.

When the monastery do not have enough sponsors, the monks have to go out to raise fund through various activities like tours and doing sand mandala etc, which will cause interruption to their studies. So sponsoring pujas are also a way to help the monastery as a small monetary offering is made to the monks.

I think Kechara or Rinpoche does sponsor pujas regularly. I sign up to receive their weekly newsletter, and I have read many news before that they have sponsored various pujas in Gaden Shartse monastery. I am not sure about why sponsoring of puja apart from removing obstacles, sorry.

Pujas are done to help remove a few types of obstacles:Worldly obstacles which affect our daily life and relationships, Inner obstacles which affect our health and mental state and Secret obstacles which obstruct the attainments (in terms of practice).

The puja sponsor creates merits which will fulfil their wishes and purify their negative karma which is the ultimate cause of their particular problem, which is why they looked for a puja to be done in the first place.
