Luamba Makiadi dit Franco de Mi Amor; here he's; he's talking! Wow. I'm proud of you, Franco. You're just like a father for me. You were talented entertainer ever. Thanks for all you did for our culture. Vive la RD Congo. Congo For Ever! Notre Congo. God bless y'all.
I am 19 and I love Fally, Koffi and werra. But lets be serious our musicians now have nothing on the musicians of our fathers generation. This guy is a genuis. Look at him pure talent, so simple, just him, the audience and his music.
More fearless than most know. Flawed like any human being but in the area of life and music: Dangerous. Nobody more fearless and nobody more productive. Mangwana was right. A man like Franco comes along maybe once every hundred years. There will never be an artist who approaches his complexity especially in an African country where it is more difficult if impossible to make a living.
@rahndi he was a man of the people and voice of the voiceless. I wish the DRC gvt give him a national hero staus and street/ stadium named after him,..wel thus my idea not for greedy politicians.
This record is sheer genus. It was because of this type of Congolese music that I had to learn Lingala. To learn Lingala I borrowed a Lingala bible from someone and then using the English bible of my Luo languaga bible I was soon able to string up sentences. Later i bought a book called Yekola Lingala it was published by the OAU Bureau of languages. The book was writen in Lingala with English translations. Thats how I who comes from Northern Uganda learnt Lingala. Lingala na ngai ekoka.
oh u unparelled determination man i also wud luv 2 emulate u, i luv music from yo country n kenya as wel as DRC..I ve bn teachig myself the basic Luganda n Kiswahili, but wen i read yo posting abve i feel encouraged to learn Lingala n wud do anything possible to do that..i wil search 4 dat bk lol...am Zimbabwean n can speak 8 afrcan languages and wud like 2 add the 3 on my list soon..thanx man
yasolo mpenza, kinsasa ezali mboka ya makambo -))) kasi tolingi mboka na biso ... le jour viendra que Mboka na biso ekozala libre ... colonisation na mboka na biso ezali na suka !
I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THE ISSUE! Kinshasa with its rumours and gossips had gave Franco a large plate-form for his music and made him one of the rechest men of DRC when he was alive... So again, what is the problem???
The problem is rumours and gossips are social phenomenons that are unpleasant when untrue , the consequencies could be quite serious at time ... and Franco was telling his own story trying to educate the masses once one .
Franco became one of the richest musicians because of his talent not because of the rumors. The issue here is he was a social commentator and as such if u listen to the song he is grateful of his people but he knows when things get out of hand they need to be addressed. U can put a man like this in any country and he will rise to the top. Why?. Look at the guitar solo no one not even Santana, BB or Clapton can do that.
The best guitarist of he's generation, listen that bolero swing of Africa,
Un des meilleurs de sa génération, j'ai appris lingala à travers la musique de ce génie, son boléro est à vous arrachez le coeur, c'est vrai que la musique adoucit les moeurs..
Paix à ton âme grand maître Luambo Makiadi

Kinshasa ,city full of problems Everyone wants me arrested City full of problem Kinshasa , city full of liars They want me to flee kin But if i flee , their lies will be seen as true . So i won't go anywhere. I will fight them to the end . You want hurt a person without even where his ombilical cord was buried in sonabata. City full of problems . Everyone wants me arrested. I was jailed once but that wasn't enough for them.
Kinshasa , city full of liars They are saying i killed people in Europe They are saying i sold Cannabis in Europe . Kinshasa , city full of liars Why do you want to hurt a person who grew up in front of you eyes , succeded in front of eyes ? Why do you want me to get arrested ? why? The same friends i used to work with want hurt me because they've lost their medals . Kids , pass me the guitar so i can express myself. city full of problems Sell beer , stop selling people.
Why do you want to hurt a person who grew up in front of you eyes , succeded in front of eyes ?
You made me a success, i even got this big belly in front yours eyes ,so why do you want me to get arrested , what will u gain form it , why did i do to you,Let me work and i fail , i will laugh at myself .
Franco was and still the king of the African music. His voice was something only angels have, He made music that touched souls. He makes singers and song writers of today look like little amateurs. You tell me if this ain't poetry at it best.
"KINSHASA TOWN OF PROBLEMS".......Franco reaches out to the audience about his LOVE for Kinshasa, the town of many problems. Response to rumours and accusations he had deserted it for Europe. Though Franco did not have a great voice, his words were always captivating and provided food for thought. He had a certain confident approach and shared his feelings to audiences allover the world.
I don`t understand what he said, but I think its a sad song!. I am Spanish and I love african music and of course, Franco will be always the best of all for me!! Thank you Africa!!!
Kinshasa Land of Rumours..."Have I deserted the land I was born and raised".Response to rumours going around Kinshasa that I (Franco) has left my people.I am From Sona Bata( Birthplace)and Kinshasa will always be in my Heart.
The message? A response to rumours regarding Franco's alleged desertion to Europe. Rumors and gossip was a theme that ran through several Franco compositions: "Les Rumeurs," "Radio Troittoir," "Tu Vois? (Mamou)." This performance was in 1982. He died in October 1989 at which time he was very thin. The cover photo on the Mangwana-Franco lp "For Ever" shows the gravely ill, almost unrecognizeable Franco.
