Great movie, I have to try this way of Nikyo at my next AIKIDO training.
Thank You for subtitles, english isn't my native language, I don't speak it very well and with subtitles it's easier to understand the explanation, even if i don't know any words (for example spacing) I can use a dictionary. Thanks!
@theawakener7 Christian Tissier is probably the best in the world at demonstrating the effectiveness of aikido to critics, so I would highly recommend attending one of his seminars if you can.
if Aikido doesn't work then why is it taught all over the world to police officers? Why was its founder training so many high ranking Japanese military men who knew how to "punch their way out of a wet brown paper bag"? I've never met a paper bag that wanted to fight me, for one thing.
True, a lot of Aikidoka aren't interested in training for combat, and they don't really know how combat works. Aikido itself however, in the right (or wrong?) hands, can be absolutely devastating.
I always like watching Endo Sensei. To me he is like a distance cousin of Hagihara Sensei; another student of Tohei Sensei. Though I should not analyze such a master; Endo Sensei seems to never have a wasted movement.
I love what Seishiro Endo Shihan says, "this is enough" 0:59
What a beautiful metaphor for all of life! Stop pushing and pulling your way through life! Come from the center of who you are (love) and you will find that "this is enough". It is more than enough, for the love of who we all are is all that is real, everything else is the grand illusion.
Nice Nice Video. I really loved your video. Youtube can be a great asset for you. If you need any help getting your video exposed, check out this site called tubeviews [dot net] It has really done wonders for me, I have built 3 Channels up with videos at top in position and this is my forth channel i'm going to working on.
That particular defense however seems to rely on the opponent willingly giving up his centerline, he is effectively choosing at the very start to only use 1 arm.
I am sure however that Aikidoists are aware of this, it is merely an observation :)
Endo Sensei himself often stresses that what he is pursuing is no longer a means of self-defense. It is rather a way of expressing yourself through a martial system evolved from self defense. Thus, Aikidoka practicing this way here generally are aware of your point.

@theawakener7 you don't even understand, how you are wrong :)

@theawakener7 , from your point of view, only strength is the key? Yeh, you should know this one - have power, but no brain.
Not only strength can win. Aikido is universal combat art, and shiters like you, accept only brainless boks

人間がごく自然に、当たり前の動きをすれば良い。
立つ、座る、横を向く、お辞儀をする、身体を傾ける。
そんな些細な動きが即、武道になる。
大仰な動きは、相手に氣付かれて警戒されます。

I have practiced aikido for about 5 years and have had the privilege of learning from Endo Sensei a few times at seminars.
Aikido is as effective if the opponent resists...it is just more painful for those on the receiving end
