1. Alpine suck, I had a type R and it sucked. I upgraded to JBL and it was better. Now I'm running over 4300rms on Fi's. But you can get way better from JBL than Alpine. This is all from experience

@kintarben kickers suck. i have tried it in every single home made and expensive boxs. the speaker sucks. and i brought it brand new for 580.00 damn speaker no vale verga. i have 1 of these and it broke my back windshield. i have it in a 3/4 wood box. and it thumps so fucking loud. if you have these in a cheap nasty box then it wont work. because the speaker lets out to much power. alpine does better in a 3\4 wood box. believe that.

base is being reduced by the camera mic and computer speakers. especially laptop speakers.. laptops only have tweeters built in so don't expect to hear lower than 150hz! A desktop with a sound system is a different story, the system will have the ability to play low frequencies, but again, his camera mic has trouble picking up low frequencies. "aww thats crap i can't hear anythin" is a very ignorant statement.

quality wise Es are a lot better... Sony is great for home theater, but if you're looking for quality in car audio applications.. stick with ALpine, ROckford, and JL.. xplodz will often take more RMS than an E.. but they don't have the same quality in my opinion

How on earth do you figure the Type R's are much much better? I've owned both type R's and type X's and would prefer my type X's anyday, it's just much cleaner bass and has the potential to pound way harder. I have my one 12" type X hooked up to an alpine PDX 1.1000 in a 2.5 cubic foot box tuned at 32 Hz and it pounds nicely, although the type R's are still a nice subwoofer for the price, the type X's are "much much" better ;)
