For any mix engineers out there that are just starting... Your VERY FIRST plug ins should be the Waves SSL 4000 bundle, and the CLA Classic Compressors. They will take your tracks from ok, to brilliant.
@Vortex4001 i actually own these plugins and use them all the time in my logic chain. and no, these plugins are something absolutely different, they're my go-to compressors.
This is absolute Gold. He's showing his techniques to to sustain or snap a track into a mix. Wow. Subtle & incredibly effective from one of the greatest mixing producers in our time. If you haven't got the best chain just mic it closer to mask the harshness and get the takes as tight as you possibly can. It's so much about the performance - if lack of then editing skills hehe . .
Hey Daniel, in the drum section where he pulls up the 1176 plug-ins, it looks like he's using a blue strip on snare, the blackface on overheads, but he also has another stereo track that's getting compressed. Is that a drum buss with everything buss to it?
I just bought this bundle and I am extremely impressed with it. I particularly like the black 1176 for my drum bus. I use it mainly to enhance the drums in my techno tracks. Was just curious which of the other compressors are suitable for the various elements in the track? Blue 1176 for vocals? LA3A for synths? Any suggestions would be great!
fucking hell, he rams his vocals. GREAT sounding plug-ins though, I swear by them.

@perfectthetech if you did then you have no idea how to use a compressor. settings depends on the source. there are no presets. period.
