Also, I always hated watching the TV broadcast of games at the Salt Palace and the Capital Centre. Why weren't the cameras fixed at midcourt? Who's brilliant idea was it to put the camera bays parallel to one of the keys?
WOw outside of MJ the Bulls starting Lineup looks horrible. Oakley was very young so he was no where near his talent of th 90s, Pacson is alright but thats about it. Gilmore, Sellers---LOL.
someone who has the equipment do this youtube video stuff needs to extract the segment from 3:35 to 4:06 and make short, sweet vid of this. maybe throw in 4:38-5:00 as bonus footage
it is literally unbelievable how fast Jordan's right hand comes down on the dunk at 3:39 (even in slow mo it looks fast)
1) Hot Rod Hundley is the most underrated announcer in basketball. MONEY. Never a homer (6:12, 6:53), always willing to point out bad calls, whether they are for or against the jazz (6:34). Always respects talent. Always gets excited when a big bucket is made, whether it is for the jazz or against. (2:34, 3:39, 4:40, 6:30).
2) It's really fun to see Stockton, Malone, and Jordan all so young. I miss 'em
3) Mark Eaton WAS really as big, white, and slow as I remember.
This game was talked about by Karl Malone in the video "Michael Jordan Come Fly with Me" you can look it up on youtube. Malone was talking about a fan who was shouting at Jordan for dunking on Stockton (3:05), the next time Jordan got the ball he dunked on Mel Thurpton (3:37). You will see Jordan talking to fan (3:42) and said "Was he big enough".
Jordan is above and beyond above the rest of the greats in the nba. Its very simple look at Jordan's field goal percentage which was 50 percent for his career. Should say a lot in it self.
Anyhow I found this video because I was looking for the 97' Bulls Vs Jazz Playoff game where (I think it was stockton) made a half court pop shot.... anyone know if thats floating around?
Make sure u check ForEmily23's channel. He'll have the series posted soon. His focus is on MJ though, so maybe u should ask him to include that particular shot.
Max has never had the flu or something. When I have the fucking flu it takes what seems to be all my energy just to walk 25 feet to the bathroom let alone to score 47 points in a PROFESSIONAL basketball game... not to mention wasn't this like Jordans 2nd year in the pros? so with the flu and against players who had A LOT of years in the pros (i can only assume that im not sure I was 2 when this game happened) he still made 47 pts? not giving jordan props just makes you a dick
He is head and shoulders above any other NBA greats. He is a super star among super stars. Amazing. The perfect example of what is possible if you work hard enough for it.
It is interesting that in the game before the Jazz he did not play well so in this game with the Jazz he wanted to prove to people and critics that he is good so they say he has a flu/sick he leaves for a second then comes back ready to go and energized. It would be really messed up if he juiced or did something while he was off the court and came back playing like a new person.

I've seen Jordan play alot, and I really mean alot but the whole "flu"-shit is so overrated.. if you are so sick that he "was" you will not be able to do crazy dunks and playing killing D...
Get a life? I'm not the one killing myself to make others believe in that a freaking basketball player was sick during a fucking game to make his stats more impressive.
The "Flu-games" are pathetic and as I said earlier, how can you do all the crazy dunks and offensiva and defensive plays during the game and suddenly when the game is over you fall in to your teammates arms and is actling like, "OH, I'M DYING, HEEEEEELP MEEEE! I just did some crazy dunks but now I'm dead, PLEAAAASE HELP ME!!!
Wow. Max, you have obviously never played a sport in your life, or at least never played sick. When playing sick you rely purely on adrenaline and determination. So much energy goes into that short span of time that after it is over and you come back down to Earth, you are completely depleted and exhausted. That's what happened with Jordan.
Great job with the vid. MJ was unbelievable in this game on both ends of the court. You and Hoops need to keep up the great work; we all appreciate your efforts. I also enjoy your posts of the game notes and quotes from the newspapers the following day. It's a nice touch!
haha Hot Rod Huntley was always giving moves his own names. In this video he calls Jordan's reverse lay-up an "Alley-oop" and later on a fade-away he calls "the cork screw"
Great job. the camera angle seems so close to the court. The dunks on Eaton, Mel, and stockton are equisite. The postups are phenominal. Jordan swallows the talent of other players and steals the hearts of the announcers when he is on the road!
Another classic game. Like fine wine, it just gets better to watch the level of athleticism on which MJ played. That sStockton pass stolen in the air cleanly by MJ was great. MJ grabbed clean steal/catches more than anyone because of his passing lane anticipation and superhuman reflexes. Thanks again.
Yes, I have highlights of 3-4 possessions from his first NBA game along with some other rookie highlights. I searched youtube but couldn't find them, so I may upload them.
If you want more, you should consult hoopsencyclopedia. He probably has more.
Now "THIS" Michael Jordan is the G.O.A.T!! "THIS" is Air Jordan, the one who has "NO" Equal..MJ from '95-'98, was great & better than anyone in the league right now, but "that" MJ doesn't compare to "THIS" one & no one else for that matter..
This is very nice stuff, and indeed much like hoops'. I like your game descriptions. Keep em coming ( so I can look forward to your vids and hoops'.. lol) thanks
Starks23.......thanks again. That dunk at 4:40 is too quick from any standards. thank god MJ had flu or else we'd have to see it on slow motion just to make sure he made that dunk. Great game. MJ had more highlights in a single game than today's so called overrated great players have in 25 games.
just my opinion but that foul wasnt flagrant. he didnt grab him out the air or go for his head or neck or undercut him. he knew he couldnt block it but contested the shot. Not a dirty play but rather good hard foul.
Haha, this is the game where a fan yells at Jordan, telling him to dunk on someone his own size after he dunks on Stockton at 3:15. Then, a few possesions later, when he dunks on Mel Turpin at 3:39 he truns to that fan and says is he big enough. HAHA. Mj was the ultimate trash talker.
This game also has one of Jordan's most memorable dunks. As documented in "Come Fly With me", just before the end of the 2nd quarter Jordan dunks over Stockton. ""Hey, why don't you pick on somebody your own size!", yells a fan from the courtside. The next time Jordan gets the ball, he grants the wish by dunking it over 6"11' Jazz center Mel Turpin. Then turns the fan and says, "Was he big enough for you?"
look at what those announcers said they said if jordan had the supporting cast he would win as much as magic johnson and larry bird, and these moron analysts who talk about jordan today make it seem like he was a loser back in the 80s yeah well obviously other people knew different

add this dunk onto the video: watch?v=ESCkEoF0xuE
keep the original audio (no cheeseball music). Only the music of Jordan's wrist banging on iron
I sort of feel like a producer (kinda cool). now I just need a director
anybody?
