  • listen courtneysk8, keep your opinions to yourself and if you dont like mirai nagasu then why would you watch this video???

  • Oh gosh she was adorable.

  • haha i know whose voice it was in the background ;-)

  • It's very common for young ladies skaters at that level to work on a triple axle but never compete with it.....Michelle Kwan & Tara Lipinski were both working on it at one time. I'm plenty happy with double flips :)

  • i bet half of you people posting nasty things about her 3A can't even do one

  • It was a double axel....full turn "cheat" if she were to attempt it again!!! Good try :)

  • this is just one practice .. i bet there was more thats pretty darn close to 3A

  • I hope she can do it

  • Is that really Mirai??

  • its funny how she doesn't do this in competition, even after all this time :'(

  • @freestyleice

Prob not worth the risk in IJS lol.

  • ohh that was very good!

  • Read the other day on some skating site that she hurt her leg.

  • i wish she actually kept working on this jump! oh well =(

  • @courtneysk8s i may not know you, but you are one low-life loser. courtney quail-duck, go do your job, or else you might get fired off your board. and also, my point: you don't know me. so stop hating on people you don't know, and people that you're jealous of and are better than you. hatred isnt gonna get you very far you dumbass.

  • oh wow :]]!!

  • crazy people. this is just a practice. and it was an attempt. nobody said she succeeded it.

  • Wow-I did not know Mirai had worked on a triple axel! It does look pretty good. :)

  • The triple axel is overrated. Unless you do it with another triple jump there is no advantage with the new scoring system.

  • Courtneysk8s, you talk blah about Caroline, and then you talk pathetic about Mirai, seriously, is there any other figure skaters you HATE? Or do you really hate yourself so much to be posting comments that belong in the trash compactor? Courtney, you are boring me so much, its close to pathetic.

  • Well put.

I think people like Courtney are just sad sad sad, and best ignored.

  • Comment removed

  • is this in Healthsouth?

  • she clearly landed facing forward.. nice try anyways

  • That was pretty good, if only she had more speed going into it and the ice was smoother, she probably would have made the full rotation (but not landing lol)

  • Fadstar i agree with you on that, But when she speeds up, she needs twice as much space to skate. Speed is a factor, but she collides against the head board because she is such a speedy skater.

  • Yeah that is true, Mirai is super fast, she collided with the board in her SP for 2009 US nationals...I think she was going a bit too fast that time lol

  • 1 rotation cheated? hehe i can do a quad with 3 rotation cheated, spining on the ice with my ass after landing :P

  • lol

  • @ courtneysk8as

    boo bitch!

  • @ courtneysk8as

    U R AN IDIOT.

    Have a nice day.

  • well, this is practice. thats not competion.

  • i'd like to c u try. shes only 15. theres a word called practice. when u try u dnt automatically land it clean.

  • Comment removed

  • so? it doesnt matter if its not her first try. it doesnt take like more than once and u get it clean. u gotta do hundreds and thousands of them to get it clean and consistent. no chance? psh maybe right now no but later on it might. u cnt always work on the same jumps everytime. u gotta move on to learn different jumps.

  • too old?! shes 16. O.o mao is 18? i think mao got her triple axel consistent well most of the time now. yes maybe its better to get it when ur smaller but if u have it and u had a growth spurt then that'll be worse. its better to go through the growth spurt and get the triple axel.

  • i do skate. ive been skating for 9 years now. ive hit puberty and i got my triples after i hit my puberty. this was 2 years ago. how would u kno that shes trying triple axels now? but mao is having trouble with the edge change on the jumps

  • everyone has their own problems. u cant expect everyone to have the same problem. then thats not a real sport. she might have trouble but there is never room for the word never in ice skating. bigger= not good for triple axels yes the bigger u are the harder it is. but there are some ppl that can skate well even though their tall. like evan. hes 6"1? 6 feet something and look how amazing he is. and i have a friend shes 5"11. she's working on her last triple.its clean but not consistent.

  • thats y its called adjusting. watch 3 or 4 more years later shes gnna get a clean triple axel. life is unexpected. u cant know how the future is going to go. but i guarantee mirai is not gonna give up with the triple axel.

  • ahhahaha have you seen her at nationals? ur talkin bullshit!!! LOL! =D

  • @courtneysk8s can you read the title? Or do you need me to read it for you? Better yet, show us your beautiful triple axel video.

  • @courtneysk8s Nice. How long did it take for you to come up with that insult? :) Get a life loser.

  • @courtneysk8s...

Show us ur beautiful 3A vid, and then say it.

    IDIOT.

  • @courtneysk8s mirai is better than you will ever be.

  • @courtneysk8s...

    Uh, it's a practice,OK? P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E!!

    But she's almost got it.

Open up ur eyes and read the title well.

Or do u want me to read it for u?

  • very verrry nice!! hope she does these in competition! (still gotta get that last 2 quarters in the rotation) otherwise looks pretty good!

  • That was a bit less than a half turn cheat. It was a good attempt though, straight and tight in the air with quick turns, good job!!

  • you havent landed your single axel but youve almost done a doulbe loop??

  • she can't do them well an of to put them in her program

  • a little cheated other wise it was pretty good

  • get it, girl!!!

  • great jump! almost a triple axel!

  • awesome!

  • Why not World competition?

  • OMG thats was VERY good ! :O

  • well my bad

  • her triple axel was cheted by a half turn

  • She's young, give her time.

  • that was an attempt

  • Well, Nagasu does hers with more height. and also it wasn't that awkward.... anyway, this was done in practice... you should have seen her land it during competition.

  • mirai landed one during competition?

  • yes. She landed her axel during competition. Try to find some of her recent videos and to view it so you can see what i mean. She's a strong contender and her jumps are usually clean.

  • specifically, what competitions? id like to see it

  • yes which competition was it, i wanna see!!!!

  • what competition? i really want to see her triple axel.

  • not true she hasnt

  • No! she never landed one in competition, the only two U.S. ladies who have were Tonya harding and Kimmie Meissner!

  • no... mao asado has landed one two. also, mao was the first and ONLY lady to land 2 triple axels clean in her program ever!

  • @icesk8rqueen22 sorry... but both 3A were cheated... she prerotates a revolution... if you count revolutions in air after she lives the ice... look carefully 2.75 revolutions... and you know 3A has 3.5 revolutions... at least 3.25.

  • @diegokace how can you jump axel without prerotation? not only axel but loop and salcow too. they are the jumps that need prerotation. thats the figure skating jumps mechanics. watch other skaters jumps and make sure by yourself. they all prerotate. no exception.

  • this is amazing she is such a hard worker my favourite skater love her

  • cheated a little more than half turn but nice attempt

  • I think that Mirai is much better than Kimmie.

  • Oh please. Kimmie was at her best during 2006-2007 and its been a downwards spiral for her ever since. Kimmie's 3A is suspect (and hasn't landed one for a LONG time), her jumping ability isn't pure...and Mirai, for me, has far more appeal to me as a skater.

She may have been a world champion, but it's alot like Sarah Hughes - a "zone" thing. For me, the Fantastic Four (CaroZ, Mirai, Rachael, Ashley) are the future for American ladies. Just my opinion.

  • as if she can land this on one foot! yeah fair do's it wasn't completly rotated, but IT STILL ROCKED! haha no fair i'm fourteen, i've been stuck on a double axel for only three months and i'm already sick of it haha

  • what u guys r forgeting is that this video was added September 15, 2007...

and who knows when was it actually recorded, but anyways, by september 15, 2007 she had turned 14, now she's 15... it's a year... im curious about how her triple axel looks like now... it probably is very different, i would like to see her trying it at the senior grand prix this coming season... it would totally rock...

  • i have to agree. it probably look totally different after a year.

  • she is so good, im so jelous! she's fourteen or fifteen i think and she is soo much better than anyone i know. thats a little underrotated, but hey, at least she can land it on one foot! as a reply to xmilaxmorelissen, she is american, not from holland. she might be training there, but as far as i know she is actually american :D

  • She is amazing!!

  • wow !!!!

  • whoo she's really good for someone in holland!

When you can do the 2 axel then you're one of the best in holland.

  • aw! i want to move there.

  • how old is this skater:O

  • 14. she's going to turn 15 this year. i'm not sure if she already turned 15 though

  • I think she needs more work on making sure the rest of her triples are fully rotated. She has had issues with her jumps being downgraded this year.

  • stop this vid exactly at 0:18.. it's def not a 3a!

  • of course it isnt...thats y it says attempt!!!

  • I think that's what called a "cheat half turn". Don't quote on this - I'm not a figure skater but have watched FS throughout the years..... =D

  • Comment removed

  • triple axel is 3 1/2 rotation not 3. she's just a half or more underrotated. just needs more spring and balance in the air. but not bad.

  • yup, just a bit more spring to fit in that 1/2 rotation and she's there! yay!

  • Coolness! She's got about 2 1/2 rotations there. If she keeps working at it, she'll get the full 3 in no time!

  • 3 1/2

  • right you are! it is 3 1/2. I guess she's got a little farther to go than I thought, huh?

  • o well,hers is a start...

  • she has exellent technique on her axel and I agree that she will get it very soon!

  • Good try!!

  • She doesn't need the triple axel. She has what it takes but needs to stay healthy and compete like she just did in her SP

  • But if she does get the triple axel she will have a huge advantage over all the other american girls. Kimmie Meissnner is only american girl with a triple axel and Kimmie is slumping badly anyways and hasn't landed it in about 3 years.

  • kimmies triple axel at her first senior nationals was also short half a turn

  • way to go Mirai! Keep up the good work :)

  • ooh! shes so close

  • Sheesh, why are you guys all arguing over her under rotation!? SHE JUST STARTED TO WORK ON IT! I dont know about you, but anyone i know would be jumping a very cheated triple axel when they just start. She will get it soon! Its very hard. Gosh...

  • Totally agree with you! We should appreciate rather than putting her down! You'll make it Mirai!

  • I agree; you can't just go out and land a jump you've never attempted before. Given her technique; I bet she'll land a clean one soon.

  • Actually that's the Torrence rink in Harbor City...

  • there's a high possibility that it is 5 a.m. she practices very early in the morning

  • At least she is moving past the triple lutz and trying the triple axel. That is how you start. I don't think I have known anyone who has started triple axel and not been at LEAST a half turn short.

  • thats almost a full turn cheat....

  • no its less than a half!

  • sry sry i meant a half. a full turn? yeh rite. a full turn then it's a double axel.

  • if she jumped higher she'd probably have it, but its very cheated....good she's trying it and that she's straight up and down

  • pretty much is a double, with a spin on the ice at the end....very cheated, would not get any credit for it in comp

  • she wuldnt get credit but her regular double axel is high with lots of hang time left. so that hangtime is used for rotating in the triple so it cant b a double.

  • it would be downgraded to a double and she would get less points for attempting it than for doing a good double

  • yeh but of course she wont put it in her routine right now. its still cheated yeh but cmon she's only 14 also she just started wrking on it

  • Yeah that's why it says she's working on it, not that she has it.

  • It´s beautiful!!

  • I think she is coming close to complete that thing!

  • yeah I saw this clip before too. I wonder why it was removed.

  • I saw last year this clip.

  • it does not look like her.

  • it is her, i downloaded this vid too, there are actually quite a few of her trying the triple axel, and that's her coach's voice too.

  • Where did you downloaded the vids with a few triple axels? I would want to see more!!

  • sorry for the slow reply, but if you're still interested, you can download them at drugstore96's clubbox.

  • wow!

  • Hey its maire from sashafans! Thabkyou sooo much for posting this!

  • Opps, i mean its Marie* not maire lol!

  • ooh! hi mizzi!!!!!!
