P.S I've filled the cup 2 a mini teacup/saucer set w/soy candle wax added wick & orange/clove essential oil 2 make a candle wrapped it in cellophane, placed on saucer a homemade chocolate teaspoon wrapped in saran wrap, finished w/fabric flower & laced up with a ribbon bow - really gorg!!
wow! this is the first time I saw yr channel, (as I love dumpster diving AND Tea cups and saucers), but I love the "Normal" part @ 0.45 - love it!! In my past life when I used to practice cubicide (office work - cubicle blues) I was often painted as a 'unusual' or 'not normal' or my favourite "Colorful"....Im going 2 watch some more episodes, this is Great!!
Wowie, things from a dump for free, that would be cool. Here it is NOT allowed to take anything from dumps here. I very rarely see tea-cups in charity shops (thrift stores for you) here.
Aw, I would love to see the finished products:) I love tea cups..been collecting them for a few years. You may want to check the stamps on the bottoms. You can find out what year they were made and by who. Often people look for them on ebay to replace broken sets. I bougght three tea cups once from a thrift store..took them home and looked them up. One is worth 80.00!!!! I about fell out and was nearly 100 years old. Tea cups have so much history...great finds..they are beautiful!
Very nice idea! You could use them as tiny little bird baths or feeders, too, in the garden! Do you have to pay for the things you find at the dump, or are they free? I go to thrift stores here a lot and find tea cups/saucers for 10 cents, 20 cents. I love them!
I LOVE that green plate! How could someone get rid of something so pretty? Anyhow...what if you did some cups and saucers with the stick and use them to feed and water the birds? Also, if you should happen to break some, glue them onto a cement bird bath and then grout it. I did something very similar (wanted to use old broken china, but couldn't find any)instead, I used broken ceramic tile. Looked pretty. BTW, I don't think your house is messy at all!
Yes Nancy they do match...(grin). I call it lived in...VERY lived in....hehehehe
I would love to chat sometime. How do I get you my phone number privately? Also, I would like to get your address. I was thinking of sending you some honey that my husband harvests. I thought you could use it in your soap or maybe some tea. Also will be having some herbs this summer I would love to share with you. Let me know what you think.
No, but I have a set that I bought at an auction that look like ones my grandmother used to have. What about hanging them as a wind chime with old silver ware?
That is what I've been wanting! I knew I had to do something so you can see them at eye level. It's perfect! I've glued the cups to the saucers so they will stay together when you hang them up noq. Old cutlery. Humm. I'll think about that one!
unique idea Nancy, my mother used old plates and put them halfway down into the dirt around the edges of her garden to make a border and they were beautiful, got a lot of compliments.
Oh my gosh I love those. I would keep them for high tea for when guests come over. They are sooo beautiful. I love old fashioned tea cups. They are precious eirlooms. I would not break them. I would keep them on display somewhere and make it a special tea time cup!!!
I ended up just watching this video. I was wearing earbuds and the clanging of the glass was absolutely maddening. 8-/

Love your tea cups! You are a sweet lady! Wish I had a friend like that close by in Germantown md. I love to collect old ceramic to make mosaic art.

Wow, I cannot believe someone threw away those beautiful teacups. I have some of those same patterns and they are worth a good deal of money.

They are all free. At the Sally Ann you only can get what they have deemed is good enough to sell. At the dump you can see it all!

Yes, the green plate is really amazing. I suppose the cup broke so they got rid of the plate! not us!
I like the cement idea. they were making those cement and sawdust or something planters recently. how about decorating the outside of them? thanks.
So I take it our houses match? i GOTTA phone you! grin.

It's amazing what people throw out. One person's trash is another one's treasure. So beautiful!

I am thinking of ways to display them out there in the summertime.
NancyToday 3 years ago
I cant believe you got them for free!! I would have paid a fortune for them!!
avaleila 3 years ago
You would have paid for them at the salvation army, too. It's just our reuse center at the dump with our awesome donations and return policy! Grin.
NancyToday 3 years ago
I actually really love that they don't match. Just use them anyways ... I love the quirkiness of not matching. SOO LOVELY.
avaleila 3 years ago
I didn't worry about the not matching of some of them when I glued them to the plates. They still look quite lovely.

I glued the cups to the plates. Now for a way to display them. Perhaps a mobile?
