Yes, definitely, they are. I dunno why - perhaps you are to blame. But I have no lack for the need for gratitude and humility. Despite my Scots-Irish blood, I have fared far better than I deserve, and far, far better than many suffer. I hope I remember my blessings as often as you do.
Be WELL, Doryble. Peace - from an American who dearly misses peace. Peace from an American who laments the last two decades deeply. I remain hopeful and vigilant for rebirth.

What a beautiful , beautiful song. I've always liked Bruce from his first album. I appreciate his outspokenness on political issues but much prefer this neutral, apolitical approach to writing.
@JoeGancher Got to love "If I Had A Rocket Launcher".
One of my favorite turns of phrase I've heard from Bruce is definitely "she's got a mango in her garden". The very first time I ever heard Bruce, that line stopped me cold. I was doing day hikes in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with a girlfriend in the 1990s, and I heard that tune come over the radio and I said to myself, wait, what? what did he just sing? I've been hooked, since.
@birdstuckinchimney Heh. It may be on others, too (you know Cockburn), but I have it on "Breakfast in New Orleans, Dinner in Timbuktu", one of my absolute favorite albums. It's cut #2, called, appropriately enough, "Mango". You should Google the lyrics. I'd post them here, but I don't wanna get banned. You'll read them, and you'll ask yourself, "wait, what? Did he just write that?" But you've already given the perfect response - you just gotta laugh and dig him.
Pacing The Cage conjures up such vivid imagery. It touches the depths of your imagination. Bruce has written some thought provoking lyrics here.
I especially like the notion of proving who you are so many times the magnetic strip is worn thin and the image of a map that will not guide you because the road leads to dark places. Simply brilliant.
First time I heard this,I was waiting for the ferry to to go to Deer Island to go to work, the sun was rising over the Bay of Fundy...always brings me back to the best time of my life...Thanks Bruce
