The Making of Centipede

Does anyone know what they are using to seal the plastic together? It looks like a hand held heating element of some kind with a shield.

I have a project I am working on and any help would be fantastically appreciated!

They are probably using wax paper and a hot iron. You put the wax paper in between the plastic and heat it with the hot iron.
