Hey Pete, I feel better now that I know you've had this SA. I just bought one today and then found your vids on it. If you could, could you direct me on exactly how to remove the 2 piece guide rod?

I am not trolling you Pete but, I disagree in not removing the firing pin. If you do get cleaner/gunk in the firing pin tunnel it may cause the pin to gunk up and have issues. I had an issue when I purchased a used 1911. I detail stripped the Colt slide and damn near could not remove the ejector or the firing pin, so I always detail strip the slide. I do not mind cleaning my 1911. I use X-1R Gun Grease, when I wipe down the areas with grease the power residue wipes out very easily. Thanks again.

Hmmmmm. I pride myself on cleaning my fire arms well after firing (I'm ex-Army, after all). But, I confess, I don't often break the mags down and clean 'em out. I was surprised how much shit was down there after one firing.

That's now added to my 'must clean' list.

hey if you put some hoppes in the cap, you wont have to dip your brush in the bottle and put shit in your hoppes. Just throw out the cap full when done. I started doing this after I saw what was at the bottom of my bottle, after a hundread cleanings.
