You could find these results about any religion by doing a search. There will always be rumor, innuendo, lies, misinterpretation, mistranslation, atheists, apostates, blasphemers, etc. Nowhere in the Bible does it say people are perfect either. Everyone makes mistakes and has inherited sin.

I think the idea is to use the web thouroghly in the context of informed and critical analysis independant of what the Watchtower exclusively teaches. That's why they are telling you not to study independantly, not to have independant thinking, and to fear and be suspicious of what anybody says or writes that contradict or even question this publishing company.
This is just great....don't leave them alone. No one should be forced to serve God which is what happens when JWs are afraid to leave the organization out of fear of losing everyone.

The Watchtower has done something more effective than banning the internet (outright banning something always makes it more desirable). It's painted it as "a tool of Satan and apostates", creating fear in its members of being led astray by lies. If a fully-indoctrinated JW were to see this video (unlikely as they're trained to avoid any real criticism), it would likely actually reinforce their phobia.
This isn't a criticism of this video, of course. Just a sad insight. Welcome back WTComments.

I think you have a good point, Human. On my slow mental exodus out of the organization, I had been inactive for a few years but still had a troublesome demon paranoia going for me. It had been ingrained from infancy. Ever enslaved mentally to the WT, I avoided any and all internet material that discussed JW's whatsoever simply because I was afraid of losing my mental grip on what I perceived as truth. If THIS wasn't the truth, then NOTHING was, I feared. My awakening came . . .

@TheMrlovett, The term apostasy is also derived from Greek ποστάτης, meaning "political rebel," as applied to rebellion against God, its law and the faith of Israel (in Hebrew מרד) in the Hebrew Bible. Other expressions for apostate as used by rabbinical scholars are "mumar" (מומר, literally "the one that is changed") and "poshea yisrael" (פושע ישראל, literally, "transgressor of Israel"), or simply "kofer" (כופר, literally "denier" and heretic).

@TheMrlovett, when you copied and pasted from the WT's Insight book, you forgot to include the other definitions it gives (it's root hypocrisy) and how it lists the NWT as the ONLY translation rendering cha·neph' as "apostate". You may refer to an actual apostate as godless or a hypocrite, and you can leap your way with mental gymnastics to conclude cha·neph' is definitively "apostate", but it is far from scholarly to adulterate the original language text with such a misleading rendering.

That is what sane, rational, thoughtful lovers of truth call, "a lie". In fact, the NWT is the ONLY translation I could fine that renders chnph as "apostate". The specific word for apostate was not used in the original language text and therefore should not be rendered as such. No reason for it.

Was Jesus polluted? What does the word [מְשׁוּבָה meshubah] actually mean? What does the word, [chnph], actually mean? Certainly, one who has turned away from their religion can be called both "polluted" and "apostate" but the fact remains that the two words do not mean the same thing.

The Hebrew word, כי־לא chnph, actually means "polluted one", NOT "apostate" as the WTBTS wrongly renders it in their not-so-scholarly rendition of the Bible. "Apostate" or "apostasy" in Hebrew would be מְשׁוּבָה meshubah. Just thought I'd say, since you are such a lover of truth ;)

The Watchtower teaches that after Jesus' invisible return in 1914, he selected them to be his "channel" of communication in 1919. (Why it took him 5 years is never explained.) Jesus' selection must have been based on what the Watchtower was teaching at the time, so to verify that claim, people today ought to do the same. There were only two major publications at that time: "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" and "The Finished Mystery." Read them and ask "Would Jesus select them based on this?"

Proper names like Jerusalem, Jacob, and Jeremiah are spelled with a Y in Hebrew. The divine name was undoubtably composed of three syllables e.g Je-ho-ram, Je-ho-ash, Je-hosh u-a = Jesus. Also many Hebrew names have 'ah' on the end e.g Zephani-ah, Hezeki-ah, and Jeremi-ah.
So we should pronounce God's name as Je-ho-vah or Ye-ho-wah.

After all, the truth "comes out" eventually, right? So wouldn't it strengthen the faith of the Witnesses to examine these "accusations" rather than hide from them as the Society instructs them to do? If the society doesn't want its followers to read it, then they must be insecure about what they teach.

The Watchtower has done something more effective than banning the internet (outright banning something always makes it more desirable). It's painted it as "a tool of Satan and apostates", creating fear in its members of being led astray by lies. If a fully-indoctrinated JW were to see this video (unlikely as they're trained to avoid any real criticism), it would likely actually reinforce their phobia.
This isn't a criticism of this video, of course. Just a sad insight. Welcome back WTComments.

I think you have a good point, Human. On my slow mental exodus out of the organization, I had been inactive for a few years but still had a troublesome demon paranoia going for me. It had been ingrained from infancy. Ever enslaved mentally to the WT, I avoided any and all internet material that discussed JW's whatsoever simply because I was afraid of losing my mental grip on what I perceived as truth. If THIS wasn't the truth, then NOTHING was, I feared. My awakening came . . .
