The problem is these job cuts, stocks falling off a cliff, etc, are very much a catch-22. A tremendous amount of jobs and wealth were "created" by the Fed and aided by poor economic policy from Bush Sr, Clinton, and Bush Jr. who lets face it - are no economic masterminds. Those jobs had to be destroyed because long-term they were not sustainable. However the "recovery" under Obama proves just one thing: That spending trillions will curb losses. That Goolsbee ignores that is immensely troubling.
@dizzymasekela It a false gain. America it still going into dept to create majority of those wasteful jobs and spending. Only technology and education have been solving the issues. The government and other forces are only slowing us down.
@dizzymasekela Are you Obama's bowling partner by chance? This is the same idiot who wrote an op-ed piece in the N.Y Times in 2007 AFTER the housing market had collapsed defending the need to continue SUBPRIME LOANS which nearly destroyed the WORLD'S ECONOMY!
Oh wait, unemployment "unexpectedly" ticked up YET AGAIN after nearly 4 years of Democrat control of the country's pursestrings.
I guess 10% is greater than 5%, so that's good in your world, right?
@LarsSeprest How about the implementation of the Community Reinvestment Act forcing to make subprime loans to borrowers who shouldn't have been allowed to buy a pack of gum on credit? Was that also no president's fault? That's the whole reason we're in this mess. Thanks you Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

Goolsbee looks like a less interesting Glenn Beck in this.
Then again, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery after all.
Go back to defending subprime loans again Austen, after all what are the chances of them EVER defaulting? It's all about affordable housing, right?
What a douchebag. No wonder he's joined at Obama's hip and why the economy is in the toilet.
