  • Trying to decide on which Bare Knuckle Pickups for my Gibson Explorer and Mesa DR. This combo of gutar and amp is flubbing out a bit. Full chords have no definition when played with gain. Bottom end is mushy. I know the Mesa DR causes some of this. Looking to tighten up with a set of MMs. Think they will do the trick? I've heard they are the best set for mahogany guitars. Also considered BKP ceramic Warpig and Nailbomb. Whaddya think? Go for the MMs?

  • @adunkin3 MMs definitely! I've had war pigs in another vee and didn't like them to be honest. They weren't that tight and a bit overblown + impossible to get a decent clean tone.

Nailbombs aren't that great in mahogany apparently either.Tim recommended the miracle man to me and he knows his onions that bloke!! The bridge MM is super tight/defined under masses of gain and sounds like a warmer emg81.For the chugga chugga stuff it can't be beat.

  • great setup dude, I 've got a schecter v i play through a jvm too! seriously considering getting rid of the EMGs for a miracle man set- how do u find it has improved ur sound over the stock gibson pickup?

  • the stock pickups (500t and 496r) were ok,especilly the 496r which was actually really good. however the miracle men chew them up and spit them out!!!

the mm bridge has loads of rock solid bottom and low mids that keep up with the rest of the sound when playing fast palm mutes (the 500t didnt) and the top end and harmonics are pure zakk wylde..SCREAMING!!!!

the neck mm is smoooooth and gives that lovely oooo sound under heavy gain.

all in all well worth the cash

  • ps the mm bridge sounds a lot like a emg 81 but its passive and warmer and has less output (but in a good way) although it still beats the hell out the jvms preamp tubes on clean orange and red.

clean green stays very clean and has a very modern clean sound ....the neck mm compliments the bridge in a similar way to how an emg 85 compliments and emg 81 without sounding exactly like the 85 if that makes sense : p

  • @littlebird303 yeah thanks for your comments mate. I've got my heart set on em for sure! Just need to decide which custom cover will match tmy white flying V (schecter). Probably worn silver, but those burnt ones look amazing too!

  • the burnt ones are quite nice arent they!

ive got a set of nickel covered mules in another gibson vee which look great and sound divine through the marshall for led zep type stuff

  • @littlebird303 Hey dude Nice setup Right now i have a schecter hellraiser special(pimped out to the max gotoh machine heads dimarzio push pots emg afterburner etc) My bridge is the Warpig Ceramic and dude which bareknuckle do u think would go very well with the pig I play melo death metal, djent Hard rock punk rock Classic rock blues jazz. What neck do u think could still be smooth tight percussive but yet a little bright

  • @getsuga987 miracle man, cold sweat or aftermath i would have thought. The cold sweat neck covers a lot of territory and isn't as super bright as people make out.

it is on the bright side certainly but for fluid shredding its unmatched.
