@cocotherat7 You're rock royalty and you don't even know it.....thanks to your father, the Commotions and their music which rivals anything in rock history.
I remember buying this from 23rd Precinct in Glasgow on 12inch. Was also at their first gig, I think they were called "The Casuals" then...Lloyd was so nervous he could hardly light his cigarette. Those were the days.
I can remember driving out to the Valley in LA and hearing this song on KROQ and saying to myself..This song kicks ass and I have been a LC fan since...oh the 80's!!
When this song came out I was falling in love with a girl I ended up marrying who had perfect skin. She didn't have to wear makeup to look beautiful. Too bad her mind and soul was pockmarked and wrinkled beyond human recognition or comprehension and we ended up divorcing. I loved her anyway, to my eternal sadness and shame. It's a great song, though, one of the best of the 80's. Like lots of you, I thought I was the only one who knew this was a fantastic song.
This guy writes the most visual lyrics I have ever seen.........er um, heard! I still listen to his stuff regularly. Very few songwriters can even hold his ashtray.
Had a friend who was obsessed with the commotions and at the time got fed up with them but have now realised she was right all along and they were indeed fantastic.
DA DA DA....LoJD KOL end d komoušns.....dođi brate u zagreb ako boga znaš....ovdje samo u mojoj ulici imaš stotinu fanova!!! a ovo ti je best song ever......so fresh, so dynamic, so powerful, so emotional,...........aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....come and gig it here in croatia
Lloyd was literate and a keen observer of various aspects of art and life and was always very gifted at taking that information to inform his songs. He was fitting a lot of details into his lyrics and it came off as natural and flowing rather than awkward and cluttered. Before I heard his music I saw his picture in one of our music magazines (in its "Letter from Britain" segment) where he came close to resembling Elvis Presley. Then Rattlesnakes came out here and showed he was real talent, not hype

With an excellent album, Rattlesnakes under his belt, Lloyd Cole could match the Smiths' debut album back in 1984!
