I have noticed that there are no places in the world that are predominantly African that are peaceful. Take your pick of any of them. They are uneducated, run down and poorly maintained societies. Later in the peak of its metropolitan rise and even more so in it's waining years there was influence form the Mediterranean, Middle East, and possibly Europe.
But if you care to see the state of Europe during Africa's height look no further than "The Great Pyramid of Giza" c. 2560 BC and Stonehenge c. 2400–2200 BC.

Levels of violence were extreme, no police existed to vindicate people. There were parts that had not even invented 'the wheel'
