What bothers me here is the whole concept that sweet young people will injure or kill themselves out of one mistake, for example, someone in the comments mentioned the use of vaseline. This suggests experimentation which could, for example, lead a sweet young person to mix the wrong substances with a spontaneous ignition (I won't mention what mix will do it- MANY can). I can see a classic "knee jurk reaction" from government on the horrison in order to save sweet young people from themselves

yeh, i made some magnalium from alu and mag, mixed it with some potas perc and tested a TENTH of a GRAM, the thing exploded on my fingers, because the mix contained metal, i has severe burns and EXTREME PAIN. lesson learned. ...again..

That is correct.  it was a used hydraulic fluid barrel. The blast ignited all the leftover fluid on the sidewalls of the drum.

well we did do that 1.5 pounder. and sent an old cast iron gas stove into orbit. but i admit that the video stunk b/c it took so long to set up that it was too dark to get much effect on film. lol it's just a bright flash and nothing more.

To make flash powder you can't just get any ol' crappy aluminum. For explosive flash powder you NEED Dark German Blackhead Flake Aluminum.

well both my chemicals were in fine powder form. So I put both into a bowl and then just kept fluffing them up with a fork untill it was an even gray color. I've seen ppl mix it by putting it in a plastic bag and squishing it around....not sure how safe that is though :)

Yeah thats what we used. Both were very finely meshed, i think above 300 mesh. They were the consistency of baking powder.

And trust me. IF you mix it right you will get GREAT results without even confining it.
