@30doublea Ok, I can understand that. But don`t you agree that it`s a bit silly that they pat themselves on the back a bit too much? I mean having high sport morals and doing a semi-decent championship and then go and make this commercial? Just feels like alot of the times americans or american companies kinda cling for straws and trying to be just a little little bit better than those around. Just my view.

@AlexanderHvass Who is "they" of which you speak? The US MNT did not make this commercial, Nike did. Nike can do whatever it wants as a company. It in no way speak for the USA as a whole. This ad was clearly made for your average footie playing American kid who, for the past 30+ years, has been the object of derision, apathy, and even hostility from their peers who play "American" sports. It's an encouragement to keep going, to not succumb to peer pressure for switching sports after turning 14.

@LAGalaxyMichael We didn't outplay England, we crawled back after being humiliated in all of 3 minutes. Slovenia was a fluke, Algeria was a lucky break, and the game with Ghana was EMBARRASSING. The only thing I will credit the US team for is getting out of the group stage.

It's a great message. This team did motivate MANY young players, but they weren't all boys. Where are the girls in this ad? Poorly done in that aspect, Nike. Realize that half of your audience is female and they too were just as inspired by this World Cup.

Team USA is a mediocre team, with mediocre strikers that can't score from 5 yards (altidore), the only salvageable players are Donovan and Dempsey. And it's not a matter of "athleticism" the U.S. players, run a lot and do have great endurance, they just lack any ball handling skills or ability to make passes to the open space.

@djgonzalezb Yeah, but this is soccer. 2 million who MOSTLY play soccer vs. 300 million who have to compete with baseball, football, basketball and to a lesser extent hockey, really divides that pie. In the soccer universe, USA is still smaller than Uruguay.

New Zealand could probably school most of the world in rugby, but is also a nation of about 2 million. Looking at just population gives you a very narrow, flawed perspective.
