I just read a book on the 46 and i dont understand why more pro teams dont use it

its because the when they came up with the west coast offense, it broke the 46 open like a shell

@latviarocks94 wrong. The West Coast Offense came out a while before the 46 defense, and the Bears would beat the 49ers with the 46 until Buddy Ryan left to coach the Eagles. The 46 is all about pressure. Some teams can run the 46, some can't. The 85 Bears had exactly the kind of athletes to run the 46 at the highest level. The year after Ryan left, the new defensive coordinator went to a more conservative 4-3 base, and the 49ers DID break that open like a shell.

Very nice work, I would love to have a defense like that. Full throttle all game, playmakers all day long. The 4-6 aint nothing to play with and very hard to find weeknesses in.
