Good luck man, hope things start looking up more. I'm LDS too and social change just doesn't happen in the Church I'm learning. Sexism is still there, racism is still there, homophobia is still there- it's all just hidden and unofficial. In the Church women are presented as mothers of four or five at home, blacks are Africans in dirt huts, Asians are Japanese, etc etc, and everything is simplified to stereotypes that are statistically wrong. I wouldn't hold my breath for social acceptance.

I don't think he will ever fully recover. He is my friend and I love him very much, but I can not supplant the bonds he came to rely on.
