Biggest reason? HARD DRIVES! Especially if you have a mini with their crappy 2.5" notebook drives. You'll be staring at that spinning color wheel a lot! Solution? Get a solid state drive (SSD) Expensive but well worth it--unless you like staring at a color wheel.

Use third-party app such as FreeMemory or go to Terminal > type in "Purge" without the quotes to release some inactive memory. I really hate the way Apple manages memory in Macs.

Before we get started, I'd like to check what you mean when you say "mac" and "windows". A mac is the machine. Windows is the OS. The Mac OS (OSX) is fine. I'm not criticizing that. (Though I can't say I'm a fan of the system) I'm talking hardware. The components of an iMac are trash and generally old technology.

@LotharMK I agree with you. I have opened a mac 20" and found it to based on quite old PC hardware. The DVD drive is just a basic laptop one, some thing I found quite poor for an expensive computer. A standard samsung harddrive.

All apple has done it we write to kernal to run on pc hardware, but then make some crucial changes to make you pay for thier expensive RAM. And Mac users they are optimised for them, they are just getting ripped off.
