  • My Mom says surffing ruined my life. Nah, Surfing for me in the 70's and 80's was Guam, Hawaii, Washington State, Oregon. Best time of my life with some of the best people I know. I still surf, but it's just not the same. Kawabunga!

  • I am welled-up inside. I saw HONK in 1973 at Newport High, out in the football field. I was a 13 year old girl who secretly wanted to surf. I wish I had pursued that dream,,,but I am SO grateful I was there during that charmed time.. It was an amazing era. Honk's music has remained with me all these 38 years. Thanks 60sSurfGuy.

  • " Honk> Five Summer Stories," Still have tha album in prestine condition, and intend to keep it that way, my prize. Great surf flick with classy surf dogs, innovators and gentlemen of the lifestyle all the way through.

  • great soundtrack (bootlegged ?) hottest surfers/ t.c. canterbury off again on again

malibu guy (every 1/2 decade ha ha ha...)

  • Hey, does anybody know the source of footage of Shaun (and Rabbit?) at pipe? BTW, yep, them boys were on single fins. Remember Honk playing at the theater in Laguna as a kid.

  • Circles in Sand: This song has haunted me for about 35 years. recorded it on tape that time. The tape crashed, but the song stayed with me! Now | found this low quallity copy and I'm extremely happy! the song is a masterpiece! Thanks Beth for your beautiful voice

  • surfing illegal coastal waters.....

  • man gerry lopez rules here

  • 5 Summer Stores was ( & remains ) one of the all time classic surf movies. It started a new generation of surf films taking the genre to a new level not seen during the 60's. I don't actually recall this footage or at least to this soundtrack in the original movie..... but then again.... I'm just an old surfer perhaps with too much salt water on the brain ! Glad to hear HONK is still out there making great music and playing live concerts ! I wudn't trade surfing in the 60's & 70s 4 ANYTHING !

  • Shaun Thomsen doing S turns down the face at Pipeline before executing a searing backside bottom turn.....amazing to see the power in his surfing then (and probably now) If you weren't surfing back then you can't possibly capture the vibe that surrounded the act during that time....it was a real communal "tribe" feeling...like you knew of something special others did not. Oh, to only go back.

  • Honk, one of SoCal's most dearly beloved cosmic surf bands from the 70s. This song from their debut album, "Honk" - song: Circles in Sand. They also did the soundtrack to Five Summer Stories.

  • It's a wonderful song and I could remember every word. Thanks for this, 602surfguy. These were magical times.

  • Were they surfing single fins?

  • Yes for the SB footage. Looks like Shaun is on a swallowtail. Around that time every possible shape was being tried.

  • This wonderful song, "Circles in Sand," didn't appear on the 1972 Five Summer Stories soundtrack album but rather on the 1973 album simply titled "Honk." I sure wish I could find it on CD. Beautiful music.

  • these guys new what surfing was.. i wish I had learned in this era..I know there's no time like the present... but hell, yesterday seems so nice sometimes

  • your today will be a yesterday before you want it to be... make the most of it

  • It's incredible how those time, were great. We just wanted to have fun without bothering anybody. Incredible how things are changed today. Surfing, the ocean, skating etc. were part of our lives. Watching these videos bring good feelings and memories.

  • remember seeing this flic in 1973 . Waiting in line to see it at the Surf Theater in Seal Beach. Just saw Honk in Newport Beach Saturday Night. Like being 19 again, At Surf Fest

  • Surfing Pensacola Beach in the 70's was the best!

  • Surfing Rincon in the 70's was the best! =)

  • I remember surfing with Mike at Pensacola Beach in 1975.

  • surfing in the 70's was one of my best times in life. I thank god for the experience of riding waves and almost feel bad for people who never knew that feeling...can't all be stoked i guess

  • I love Beth's voice. Saw them at UCSB in late 70's (with Beachboys and Grateful Dead) - those were great times.

  • Leslie Ritter

  • The soundtrack is "Five Summer Stories" the band name is HONK (Laguna Beach) I think her name is Beth Fitchet . Awesome stuff and they have a few other albums which followed that one

  • Is the soundtrack here HONK's "Circles In Sand" off their self-titled LP? It's a beautiful song.

  • Yes............
