This scene is in my opinion, one of the defining moments of Magneto. Definitely an excellent moment from what I consider one of the better Superhero movies out there.
@TheBoomViper I agree completely, but Michael Fassbender was great in First Class as well. Not as good as Ian McKellen, but I can definitely see the character Fassbender portrayed maturing into the one that McKellen plays.

i loved pyro. i think he had one of the best scenes ever in X-men. i loved in X2 when they were in Bobby's house and he stared at Bobby's family's picture and in it you could see his reflection and how sad and jealous he was. it was amazing.
@jadedfeelings21 Pyro is envy, antisocial, but really powerful and self-confident just when he finds someone that believes in him and his strength (due to previous loneliness and "rejection" that may have killed him inside; he was kinda insecure at first due to "don't do that" from Xavier .. and the lack of happiness anyway), such as Magneto.
I love the way Magneto was written in the X-Men movies, he isn't simply a "villain", he's man that's what's to insure the mutant way of life through questionable means. I love "badguys" that actually have a point about there methods or actions.

Very well done scene, Magneto shows John his power, by taking his lighter. Gives the positive reinforcement Pyro always wanted. And the best part is Eric returning the lighter to him by hand, connecting on a more personal level.

The Dark Knight and this one are the best movies ever made from a comic book. And Nolan and Singer are the best directors of the new generation They both can write and direct some really intense and inovative scenes.
I remember watching the first one, and thinking, WTF is Pyro doing at the x-mansion?! When he was like, trying to impress Rogue with the mini fireball... then Bobby ices it... (Speaking of Rogue/Bobby: WTF?! Rogue/Gambit ALL THE WAY!) But anyway, when this one came out and I saw the commercial with Pyro blowing up a Police car, I was like "THANK YOU!" And then of course at the end, when he went with Magneto, I thought "That's better. Now go torch something." Oh, and WHERE is his aussie accent?!?

The concept behind Magneto is he was in a concentration camp as a jewish prisoner. He practices a similar view point, segregation through death, of Humans and super humans, the same as Hilter saw it. Germans as descendants of super humans and all else sub-human. His barking about intolerance is simply a method to justify his actions to others nothing more. IYou have to SEE as well as listen friend :)

I can see why many people are sympathetic toward Magneto, but I still see him as a bad guy...a cool one though. Although humans are intolerant, Magneto isn't afraid to sacrifice his own kind -- mutants -- to acheive his aims. That's what makes his goals kind of messed up, even though it may have good intentions for mutants.
Ian McKellen was really good as Magneto. Great scene, popped into my head the other day. I agree with TheBlackPhoenix, I've never seen Magneto as evil. In fact if I was in the same position, and had been through one holocaust already, I'd honestly do the exact same things that he does. That's why he's my favourite comicbook villain.
It would really be awesome if Steven Speilberg would consider making a X-Men Origins: Magneto, it would be Shindlers list with mutants! I went to D.C. a few months ago and picked up Magneto Testament at the Holocaust museum, really good graphic novel.

I remember watching the first one, and thinking, WTF is Pyro doing at the x-mansion?! When he was like, trying to impress Rogue with the mini fireball... then Bobby ices it... (Speaking of Rogue/Bobby: WTF?! Rogue/Gambit ALL THE WAY!) But anyway, when this one came out and I saw the commercial with Pyro blowing up a Police car, I was like "THANK YOU!" And then of course at the end, when he went with Magneto, I thought "That's better. Now go torch something." Oh, and WHERE is his aussie accent?!?

The concept behind Magneto is he was in a concentration camp as a jewish prisoner. He practices a similar view point, segregation through death, of Humans and super humans, the same as Hilter saw it. Germans as descendants of super humans and all else sub-human. His barking about intolerance is simply a method to justify his actions to others nothing more. IYou have to SEE as well as listen friend :)

I love it when Pyro gets his wrist flame throwers. But yeah, I noticed a lot of, Humans are douchebags, Mutants are douchebags, I'll be honest, if I had mutant powers, I'd probably end up totally acting Superior. And to be honest, both sides are to blame, Humans kind of started it, but mutants didn't help it when they attack and kill humans. Not all humans hate mutants, and not all mutants hate humans.
Magneto believes mutants superior, doesn't help Mutant/Human relationships.

because he was never part of the x-men in x2. the x-men needed answers after the attack on the white house, he was kind of along for the ride. And since his life was at the church in New York, and he had a life before the events of Striker he may have had no reason to stay at the mansion.

I can see why many people are sympathetic toward Magneto, but I still see him as a bad guy...a cool one though. Although humans are intolerant, Magneto isn't afraid to sacrifice his own kind -- mutants -- to acheive his aims. That's what makes his goals kind of messed up, even though it may have good intentions for mutants.

Ian McKellen was really good as Magneto. Great scene, popped into my head the other day. I agree with TheBlackPhoenix, I've never seen Magneto as evil. In fact if I was in the same position, and had been through one holocaust already, I'd honestly do the exact same things that he does. That's why he's my favourite comicbook villain.

This scene sort of demonstrates that Magneto's not a bad guy. He's just fighting for his kind, but he's doing some bad things in the process.

It would really be awesome if Steven Speilberg would consider making a X-Men Origins: Magneto, it would be Shindlers list with mutants! I went to D.C. a few months ago and picked up Magneto Testament at the Holocaust museum, really good graphic novel.

I wonder if their are mutants out there in the world.....if not .....lets say a person is on the road and feels as if something will happend ( gut instinc) and decides to move off of it and next thing you know the next day their is a car accident.....what if in the future that sense develops into a power.
