peterthethinker, try using Ubuntu Studio, Mythbuntu, or gOS Rocket E. Those would be your best options for what your looking for. And for gaming, well, there's no debating that Sabayon 4.0 would definitely be the best for that. I use it for gaming on my 32-bit PC, and they run like they would on a 64-bit PC using VISTA.

I got a MacBook last week, and it can run 3 operating systems at the same time, and I'm not counting OS X in that.

I love my Mac, but that doesn't mean I hate my PC.

Obviously you CAN run OS X on a PC, for instance OSx86 and through a virtual machine, but it is still not the same.

I dunno what you mean, but it is a free distribution OS. And "hacking" (in a literal sense) just means you can access and manipulate programs by unnatural means, or functions you wouldn't be able to control otherwise. So I suppose even a TI calculator could be used to "hack."

A operating system need a kernel, and vice versa, you can get a kernel to run, but you can't really operate it. You wouldn't even have a command line without BASH, which often is a part of a OS. I mean Linux is not a OS, that would make Debian or SuSE not being Linux, since people think that Linux is A OS. Believe me, I'm developing a OS...

the penguin represents linux OS , which come in many free and commerical distrobutions , each distrobution also has different logos , but everyone uses the penguin to represent the core of linux , even the desktop styles has different logos , there are more then a hundred different types of distrobutions for anything from pc to calculator implatations
