Nice thinking, I rather like him as Nightwing myself, but you make a good point. I can definitely agree with the costume change though, he needs one, especially if he’s going to go back to being Nightwing. If he becomes someone new, well let's see, he’s been Robin, he’s been Nightwing, he’s been Batman, he’s lead the Teen Titans, lead the Justice League and lead the Outsiders.

So think of it like this: On earth where random GL's are scarce Dick can still do his detective thing with a power ring that WONT enhance his strength, might offer him a enough resilience to withstand bullets at best(Imagine lite battle armor in the form of protective aura)and gives him the abiltiy to instill hope unto others & inspire, something he's already great at.

On space missions where he'll probably encounter his GL buddies and cosmic threats he'll be granted better skills to work with

The Blue Lantern powers should transform him into a more capable leader. Since they can't create hard light constructs like that of a Green Lantern(unless one's close by) his powers would be extremely limited but very resourceful in dogfights alongside the Justice League when directing his team. He's the action star of the bat-family so it would make his survivability feats more credible/believable and with the limited protective aura the ring provides he can engage metas more frequently

His Nightwing costume should look like the one from Teen Titans. The ring should allow him to sprout ENERGY gliders underneath his arms construced from the blue light of hope that allows him to swoop around, but not fly, so as not to overpower him. The bird logo should stay on his chest and glow bright to represent Adara the incarnation of hope in the emotional spectrum. The blue lantern logo should be his belt buckle. The suit should closely resembled the costume from the animated Teen Titans

This is what I think should happen: He doesn't need a new identity as he's already established himself. Somewhere down the line something tragic should shake up the landscape in Gotham causing Batman Inc to dissolve. Justice leage team member Saint Walker should step in and inspire Dick to not lose faith. Walker offers him a BL power ring/custom utility belt that transforms him into an honorary Blue Lantern. The domino mask should look like Hal Jordans(v-shaped covering his nose and face) and

Nightwing was his stake in history, and although the title was invented on Krypton HE made it famous/marketable. That's likely the reason you see ppl like chris kent/jason todd/Tad Ryerstad take up his mantle. The domino mask is not an issue in comics, clark kent wears glasses at work and no one ever suspects he's Superman. Hal Jordan, Green Arrow, ROBIN, Arsenal, Supergirl, Power Girl... But NW is his identity and just like he's gone through his phases and the suit has changed he should too.

I disagree, I think he IS Nightwing. Robin was Batman's sidekick but Nightwing was his own man. I feel it's unfair to uproot him again because people are tierd of his costume and name. The dude got fired from being Robin, forced into being Batman by the death of his father figure; he deserves a break. I've always loved him as Nightwing and to be honest, there aren't that many good names left anymore. And at least he wears a mask coughSupermancough. Interesting idea, I'll post a vid response.

I would say, definitely just get a new costume. The Kryptonian legend of Flamebird and Nightwing basically died when the planet exploded, which gives Dick free-reign to use it. Certainly upgrade the domino mask to a cowl, ditch the cape, but find some alternative... like McGuinnis' glider-wings. But one thing's for certain, Dick Grayson is Nightwing. The only Batman will ever be Bruce Wayne.

For the record, I've always thought that the Red X thing was a child-friendly tribute to Red Hood.

I don't think anyone already in the series should become Nightwing. I'll miss Grayson as him, but it seems like a step down after Batman. If Damian ever goes solo, I think Grayson should take on a Nightwing apprentice. Perhaps a son, eventually, with mommy-dearest Barbara also mentoring him.

I feel like this story line has evolved two characters: dick grayson and tim drake. Starting with tim, i think he's grown beyond Robin (if the damian character is taken down another road). As far as dick grayson, i think he wasn't ready for the title and it's taken his toll on him. When bruce returns i think it'd be interesting to see dick take time off and rediscover who he is, then return a new hero. he'll never wear the bat title because he wanted to seperate from that so it has to be new.

Dick should stay as Batman. Dick Grayson was the true Nightwing. He does not need a new persona. Tim's costume is ugly and a rip off of Dr. Midnights. What is wrong with the Domino mask? Its a comic half the heroes have dumb masks like that. Do you have an issue with Superman's costume? What do you mean new title? He was the first Robin. He choose Nightwing for himself. 1) Nightwing's a new identity. The only appearance it's had before Dick was some random story arc where Clark was Nightwing and Jimmy Olsen being Flamebird, so only Dick really developed the character.

2) That being said, how can Dick's own mantle fit someone else better than him?

3) Domino masks are one of those things you have to accept as logical in comics. If all the heroes with secret identities wore full head masks, it would look pretty stupid.

Well heres the thing the mini series is called the return of Bruce Wayne not Batman because of this I think Bruce is going to take some vacation time like Steve Rogers and let Dick take on the role of Batman full time at least until everything turns to hell and Bruce returns.
