"Herd immunity" deals with natural immunity, not vaccination which is artificial and does not last if it ever worked in the first place. However, as vaccinations do NOT necessarily confer immunity (and I won't ever agree to any claims that it's "100%") but DO greatly reduce the odds of transmission, non-vaccinated individuals in the "herd" nevertheless put others at risk, as their odds of contracting a disease are substantially higher.

As (1) a vaccine does NOT guarantee immunity--it just vastly improves your body's ability to eliminate the pathogen before it can cause harm and (2) one can host (be a "carrier") for a virus without experiencing symptoms, unvaccinated individuals in a community actually reduce the entire community's ability to avoid a disease. However, as vaccinations do NOT necessarily confer immunity (and I won't ever agree to any claims that it's "100%") but DO greatly reduce the odds of transmission, non-vaccinated individuals in the "herd" nevertheless put others at risk, as their odds of contracting a disease are substantially higher.

That scientific "fact" has never been proven and in my humble opinion, it never will as we would then have to change the definition of "effective". The study does not exist...and if the CDC does produce something it is on their terms. My girl runs clinical trials so I am no stranger to this..pls read those books.

@dkh777OC Did you actually look it up? Effective herd immunity is a result of vaccination. The Amish don't vaccinate and do NOT have herd immunity. If they are healthy in that they do not contract diseases targeted by vaccines, it is because they are ISOLATED. The Amish also do not "see" autism in their communities because their culture does not generally endorse modern, scientific diagnoses of such disorders. If there's no one in the pool to sample, you can't draw a statistical conclusion.

@jordanselko1 Strange, I checked the WHO stats which show fertility rates are dropping and have been dropping steeply for the past 15 years. In fact, I noticed at my work it is now a weekly occurrence for young couples to have 'Fertility Fundraisers' because the women is unable to get pregnant, and they need the money to try IVF.
Not sure where you get your facts.
Young women all over my town are sterile after taking the H1N1 shot.
