My wife & I saw New Colony 6, Paul Revere & the Raiders, & The Grass Roots in Schaumburg Illinois back in the early 80's at Village on the Green. What a fantastic show I will never forget.
Oh the memories, St. Pat's Sock Hops, Gordan Tech's Sock Hops and a date with Wally Kemps sister , (we attended St. Roberts Bellermine together.) I even remember the Bands trailer parked out in front of Kemp's house on Eastwood Ave.
Super Glad to see NC6 playing again and Thanks for the memories.
Thank you to "The Big 89/WLS" and "Big 10/WCFL" for their support of these two hits that gave these kind guys from "The Win-dee-Cit-tee" a mark in the world of "Top 40 History".....I guess John Rook was pretty sharp in picking the 'LS hits before moving across the street to 'CFL...
from the Chicago area and as I've traveled over the many years I always say proudly that I'm from the same town as the New Colony Six, thanks for the great music and wish you the best always
Thank you Brian - just now saw your kudos. Chicago in the '60s - what a line-up of bands, eh? After we (NC6) opened the radio "doors" with "I Confess", so many of our peers had hit records - those were the days, my friend, and perhaps, with sites like youtube, they truly will NEVER END...
"Things I'd like to say" is one of my all time favorites. How cool to see them perform it. I really liked to see so many people applaud a song I thought very few people know...
Thanks for the information, Ray. Pleasure communicating with you and congratulations on some wonderful music. I listened to WLS and Larry Lujack and John "Records" Landecker all the time from my home in Ohio. best wishes and continued success to you.
I wrote the flipside, GITW, "Come And Give Your Love To Me" - which, in case you didn't know, was the intended "A" side of the record. We were trying to avoid being pigeon-holed as a ballad band but WLS (major Chicago AM station in the day) DJ, Larry Lujack, suggested we were pushing the wrong side of the record, so we asked the radio stations to play "TILTS" instead and the rest, as they say, is history... A video for C&GYLTM can also be found on youtube if you're interested!
No, spockvideo, that was the fantastic voice of Ronnie Rice on this record. RR & Pat McBride to some extent and I, sang the lead vocals on almost all tunes and this one featured Ronnie singing lead. I am most of the high harmonies - joined most often on those by Les and Chuck...
Ditto for me- this is the music I grew up with-- NC6 - Ides of March - Buckinghams - Cryan'Shames- American Breed - Mauds - Shadows of Knight -- and watching TW4 become Styx......Kinetic Playground / Mr Kelly's- and many a high school gym... great times !
Ray is still such a cutie! :D

how many of the original members are still in the groups and which ones? Who wrote this song?
dmlang15 1 year ago
@dmlang15
The only original member is Ray Graffia, Jr. (the tambourine player). Ronnie Rice and Les Kummel co-wrote both songs.

Great performance considering the venue. It's also the first time I have ever seen a performer ask the audience for a standing ovation.

I am shameless, am I not? That's me in the Ringmaster Ned jacket...

That's OK. You're famous and if you wrote "Thing I'd like to Say" you can do whatever you like. Beautiful song and vocals.

My cousin was a roadie years ago for the N.C.S.
I was turned on to their music back in 1970 and have loved them ever since. They have to regroup and start touring again! Keep the talent alive!

Nice video. Where was this at?
pomsgirl5 3 years ago 7
It was at a Borders book store in Chicago. The Buckinghams and the Cryan' Shames (other Chicago favorites from the 60's) performed also.
