If you are athletically gifted you can do it cause the rim is 10 feet tall and you are supposed to reach 4 feets on the air if you have long arms and long legs it is easy but if you are just 6 feet you cant

It's not the dunk that counts, its that J-Kidd did it. He isn't known for dunking and he never dunks. Pretty rare to see it. He's more of a 3-Pter/Layup kind of guy.

Jason kidd is 6'4" and can easily dunk. It's not that big of a deal. The reason you don't see people like Kidd, Parker, and other TRUE nba point gaurds dunking is because when they drive the lane it is better for them to use their body to create a shot rather than trying to elevate above a 6'11" guy with a 9ft + reach. I am not saying it can't be done (barron davis still does it with his bad knees) but why play harder or jump higher when using there body is the smart thing to do.

rarely dunked. Layups may have extended Jason Kidd's career, especially when dunking is not his game.

He tried a dunk on a fast break all by himself and he MISSED really badly. He looked so embarrassed that I think he never really wanted to bother doing it again... Just my speculation

Watch some of his high-school or college vids. He dunked with Authority. He was in love with the dunk. But I guess he figured that there are other ways to score or control the game that don't mess with your knees. It definitely seems like a conscious decision. There are many people who can dunk, playgrounds are littered with them. But how many true ballers are there?
