  • Thank God Pierre Mcguire wasn't there....he would have ruined that moment for everyone.

  • which pixel is mclean?

  • @ACreepyNeighbor good one faggot, real original saying the nucks have no cups. Like is that funny or cool or something? Get a life.

  • good save, but far from the best of all time.

  • maybe he should of played in this years stanley cup final. But Tim Thomas is better by a long shot! GO BRUINS GO! WE WON THE CUP

  • @reyjed619 do u faggots troll on every Canucks video? get a fucking life already no one cares about that anymore faggot

  • @reyjed619 I like how your picture is the Canucks logo.

    You didn't win shit, bandwagoner.

  • @reyjed619 I LOVE, how you've favorite canucks videos and you come here saying this... i bet you even rioted... Fans like you don't fuckin' deserve a team! Bandwagon jumper...

  • wow, that pixel on the left stop the pixel on the right!!!!

  • @jaceking29 Whoa, that's SO funny!!!

  • @gibbsies Oh, dude, thanks bro!

  • @jaceking29 lol. spoiled kids and their hi def tvs. xD

  • Best save of all time?? Granted, it was a hell of a save, love the "old school" two pad stack...but that wasn't the best save of ALL TIME.

  • This was a heartbreaking moment for us Flames fans, but thrilling for Canucks fans.

  • im a flames fan but fuck that was a nice save

  • 2 of our goalies who've been to the SCF both have the number 1 :)

  • like a drugstore stockboy, he stacks the "pads!!!"

  • Frankie Pietrangelo's 'the save' is better.

  • McLean still holds the record for the most saves made in the playoffs with 761 saves.

  • @rohbit not after last night he doesnt

  • @9012qwerty :( yeah... oh well, I'm glad if anyone broke it, it was Tim Thomas.

  • the best run in franchise history... untill 2011

this is our year - go canucks go!

  • Will help you get the word out

  • canucks SUCKS!!!!

  • @CENATION237 if they suck then why were they 1st in the league this year...?

  • McLean was the best Canuck goalie of all time, King Richard Brodeur second.....forgot Boo Hoo Lou

  • @britishcalifornia I'd put Luongo ahead of both those guy's but yeah all great goalies.

  • Please! Nabby's save against Richards in 2008 was much better than that

  • @QweffL that save isnt close against this one mclean had played a stand up type of style so its more harder than nabkov save richards would of scored if he wristed it typical shark fan here

  • @QweffL naah not close to this, you don't understand what a save that was for that time. still amazes me!

  • The best run? 2011 is their year. CANUCKS FTW!

  • Without this save, 94 would never have happened. Canucks would have been out in round 1 had that gone in.

  • He lets that goal in, it's series over. Vancouver doesn't get a cup run.

  • A standard 2 pad stack is the best save in history? Umm, okay....

  • @colonelboston Read the comment by surfer53. That's why it's an amazing save.

  • @flody19 It was a good save, it was most certainly not amazing. Besides, that's dude's comment is completely moot, because it's his opinion and not a fact. I mean, that save gets promoted because McLean was a standup goalie? So what -- 2 pad stacks was a standard technique for standup keepers. And, his pads were smaller than today's? I guess we have to go back and look at Tony Espoisto, Ken Dryden, Jacques Plante and Gerry Cheevers then . . . because all of them had pads smaller than McLean's.

  • Still, the timing of this save made it the best save of all time. OT in a game 7. Also, the double pad stack was not a standard. Do you see broduer using 2 pads to make every save? He is a stand-up goalie.

  • @colonelboston 2 pad stack save = laying on ground. How does being on the ground relate to being a stand up goalie AT ALL. This save was amazing seeing that he kick his pad out from below the goal line to stop the puck

  • @colonelboston standard? LOL

  • that the greatest save you will ever see

  • Typical Calgary judge.

  • fleury should have shot! in his prime he could have roofed it! thanks lumme for moving abit towards fluery making him make the pass, kirk thanks for the 1994 memories!!

  • k thats a sick save but definitely not the best. i cant count how many times i have seen kipprusoff do that

  • @BEASTEROFBEASTS you can't count the number of times kipprusoff has made this save because he never has

  • @rabblewo Just like you cant count the number of times the Canucks have won the cup

  • @ACreepyNeighbor It's 0. I'm not a Canucks fan by the way.

  • @BEASTEROFBEASTS Did he ever do it on a run to the Stanley Cup??

  • hes got a nice spot of the ring of honnor.

  • He doesn't make this save, and they don't go to game 7 of the finals. Greatest save of all-time.

  • @beatle11 that was game 7

  • @thatidiotinmunich Yup. As per Wikipedia: "Facing the Calgary Flames in the opening round, he made one of the most memorable plays in Canucks and NHL playoff history – a series saving stop on Flames forward Robert Reichel during the first overtime of the seventh game"

  • Thats robbery pure and simple. I would love to see goalies now wear them pads and not allow 9 goals a game. compare luongo's pads and chest protector to Mccleans.

Shannahan said it best-" I love it how a cop can wear bullet proof armor and look the same size but our goalies have to look like Michelin men.

  • Good Save by one of the best canucks goal tender

  • One of the best saves.

  • If only Jim Hughson was announcing this it would be so much better. Like "GREAT SAVE MCLEAN!!!!!!!" wouldn't that be so much better?

  • @therubixman i agree, i'm so used to "GREAT SAVE LUONGO!!" i feel this commentary lacks punch

  • its not the best save, its the worst shot, he had the whole net to hit and shot it into mcleans pads.

  • @Niknok420sh

    You're an idiot.

  • @Niknok420sh are you stupid? he didn't shoot it into his pads he had a wide open net and Mclean got across and saved it

  • @00StangGT00 I agree a tiny bit with what Niknok420sh said. yes Mclean did make an outstanding save but you have to admit there was enough room there to put it past mclean. although he didn't shoot it directly into mcleans pads he did have some room up top and bottom corner but shot a little too far into his pads. all in all still a great save!!

  • ummmm..... not the best

  • I'd like to see him try that against Ovechkin :)

  • No way the best all he did was slide over and stack the pads i think Caron's was way better playoffs or not!.

  • I actually met Kirk Mclean and i can honestly say he is one of the five classiest people i have ever met along with adam graves bernard king rick cerone and brian mitchell

  • Most important save in NHL history. Who ended up winning though?

  • @ChainGuN2 The canucks you worthless troll, GTFO

  • wow series tied 3-3 in OT

  • goalie equipment was tiny back then compared to todays hockey. Deffinitely more skill required back in those days

  • Hahah Kirk's my boss!

  • @Slash87183 Luo's had some nice ones. That glove on Pavol in the olympics?

  • @GoCanucksssssssGoooo

While they are impressive, for what was at stake, this save is better.

  • awesome, love the old "stand up" style better than today's butterfly goal tending. You just don't see the ol' stack the pad save anymore. Except in beer leagues with the old goalies. Cheers!

  • @Oldgoalie33 Yep. It is basically Brodeur as the last one. Although, even he considers himself a hybrid.

  • When he stopped that, I knew at the time that he wasn't letting anything else in either. Then Bure puts it away.

Hopefully our run this year is even better...

  • Three things you have to remember: 1. A great save is defined by when it is made, not just the degree of difficulty. This save literally propelled the Canucks into a run for the ages. 2. Kirk McLean played a "stand up" style. Goalies today go down to their knees and are trained to push with their feet, making that save easier. Your movement is hampered the way McLean did it, and yet he still got across to make that save. 3. Notice how small McLean's pad is? He didn't wear a lot of equipment.

  • @surfer53 a run for the ages should probably end in a stanley cup. vancouver has never had a run for the ages.

  • @surfer53 he also took padding out of his leg pads

  • @surfer53 WHAT A ROB

  • not best save

  • @theboredkid100

    you fail.

  • @pissed7off haha fail at what,ur such a douche

  • @theboredkid100

    That's the best save

  • @pissed7off haha not even theres been way better saves

  • @theboredkid100

    such as? ;-)

  • not at all

  • Wow, that was Game 7 overtime

  • why does the net look so big on the overhead view? is he like 5ft tall

  • You know damn well Mclean was over 6' tall but goalies back then didn't have huge padding like they do in today's game.

  • I believe the nets have been re-sized since 1994. Im not 100% on that, but I think the league made them smaller to create more low scoring games.

  • Having said that, it was about the only save that Kirk Maclean ever made that was worth looking at. Admitedly Caron has'nt done much either but I think that its a tie between Jocely Thibault and Curtis Joseph's oilers save when it comes to best saves ever.

  • have you seen Game 1 highlights of the 94 finals?!!! 50 some odd saves, lots of them amazing.

  • Ummmm... I have a funny feeling that you have not seen much of Kirk McLean. McLean made NUMEROUS humoungous saves in the playoffs that year. You may not have been at the age where you watched every game.

  • if you dont think this is the best save ever you are not a fan of the two pad stack !!!

  • This aint best not even near. But if this was made on 7 game OT it will increase the value of this save very much. Very nice but not the best

  • @MglsVnGigls define "the best" then jackass

  • Well I dunno but not this obviosly

  • Well... you are saying this isn't the best, but also that you do not know what the best is...Obviously it's a great save, and the time at which he made it was phenominal.

  • Yeh this was game 7 overtime (first round). I think you have to consider the entire situation. Canucks were down 3 - 1 in the series and had just come back. Plus everyone was expecting the canucks to lose this series in 4 games but bure scored in the nxt overtime for a canuck victory.

  • overall, it is the best save evre made. If you factor in the the fact it was game 7 of the western conference finals in OT, that makes it the best save ever. If you compare just purely a brute save. Like the timing of it, or the effect of it, or any other factor what so ever, then yes, there may be one or two better. But if you take the caveman version, it's still top 5 I would think

  • If your looking at it that way then i would say that Fleurys save in the dying seconds of game seven cup finals last year was better.

  • true true. There are a 100 examples you could use. I think everyone just needs to appreciate amazing saves, and dont even bother trying to rate them lol

  • @MglsVnGigls this was in game 7 in overtime, that save kept them alive and they went on to win this game in triple overtime after being down in the series 3-1 and eventually went on to the cup finals, all because of that save. if that puck goes in they go home, that's why it's considered one of the best

  • @MglsVnGigls Youre dumb! it was made in OT of game 7. And considering that if Kirk didnt make that save then canucks never would have made it to the cup final. so yeah theres plenty of value behind that save. Get your facts right.

  • @MglsVnGigls - which one is the best?

  • shit save, sebastian carons of the pittsburg penguins was much, much better, in my opinion caron had the beats of all time by far

  • nabokov's save was even better in my opinion. given that it was sudden death OT.. and a goal ends the Sharks season. he snatched it.. no chance it went in. Caron's - you could possibly argue it "may" have gone in (doubt it though).

  • Yea but that save ment nothing lets see him do it when it counts.

  • That save was in a game 7 overtime, it doesn't count much more than that dude.

  • now i know what your talking about. I was refering to carons save that the post above me is arguing about. The pens werent even in the playoff picture then i dont believe.

  • that was a good save but who ever shot that is an idiot not to put it top shelf

  • more than a good save this was a lousy shot by that opponent. whole goal open and he decides to shoot the puck in the middle of the goal

  • Forever etched the memories of all Canucks fans..........was i the only one, at that time, thought that the series was over when Calgary had that 3 on 1??....to hear the late Don Wittman say, "Great save"!!...was such a relief......i bet Jim Peplinski nearly shit his pants.....i found it dumb to have an ex-Flame be a commentator...he was such a homer in this series.....i bet he cried when they lost...LOL

  • can't see shit D:

  • Mclean and luongo both canuck hero's. Both two of the best in the game.

  • Luongo is not the best in the game. He nearly got booed off the ice a month and a half ago in Vancouver. USA has a better goaltending situation in the Olympics this year with Miller, Anderson, and Thomas. I'm Canadian but they have better goaltending. Canada has aging Brodeur and Luongo who neither of them have played amazing this year.

  • @pizzaboy20 We won gold with Luongo in net, changed your opinion since you wrote that?

  • @00StangGT00 The USA still had better goaltending Canada didn't get there almost solely on Luongo like US had to depend on Miller.

  • THE SAVE!!!!!!

  • luongo did the exact same save.

  • Yeah but not in that clutch situation.

  • actually it was in the exact same situation. and luongo saved it with his stick not with his body. btw i don't recall luongo being booed off a month ago and i've watched all the games this year...

  • Not a month ago beginning of the season when Vancouver wasn't doing so good Luongo was blowing ass. He's recovered though since then. I mean the pressure of game 7 overtime which allowed the best run in Canucks history to continue not I didn't mean it wasn't the same play just to clear that up,

  • Luongo made the same save in game 7? I thought he got peppered that game?

  • i thought i never said game 7? of what exactly? did i mention anything? except he made the same save.

  • You said it was in the same situation when luongo has never been in that situation in his career. sure he made the same save but it ment about as much as jean Fancios Racines higlight reel save during the 06 Preseason.

  • BEST SAVE IN NHL HISTORY

  • he made a better one against toronto in the 94 playoffs

  • @lickitylicks fail

not even fucking close to the best

  • @lickitylicks *richter on bure

  • kippers is better but that was is definently better then carons caron only catched in the crossbar

  • i remember these playoffs so well, that save was truly amazing and had them go all the way

  • EPIC OLD TIME HOCKEY PAD STACK!

  • The save was just realy important.. Not the best one ever in Canucks history that is for sure!

  • I miss Kirk McLean. He was one Hell of a Goaltender.

  • Completely agreed. I miss the old 90's team that I grew up watching as a kid.

  • Sick save, but not the best ever. Easily the most clutch save of all time though.

  • this was right at the time when I was just becoming old enough to watch and understand NHL hockey. I used to pretend that I was kirk mclean when I played goalie for my brother in mini sticks and pavel bure when I was shooting on my brother...haha. those were the days

  • @tmkc3rd

Same here! My elementary school teacher couldn't remember my name when i visited him, but he remembers me playing goal and saying, "Save by McLean!" whenever I made a big one.

  • friggin' rite rock 'em sock 'em 6 has this save

  • I was at that game!

  • No way!

  • I didn't realize they have been putting ads on the ice since 1993-94. I thought it was a later than that. Wow.

  • it was incredible, game 7 OT, i would say it was an amazing save, i thought it was in, maybe not best ever, but my most memorable, if i were to pick one off the top of my head i would pick this one, its a bit of a biased opinion, but a great save none the less

  • Fuck yeah i remember that game

  • amazing but not the best of all time. given the circumstances it was beastly tho

  • he shooted in the middle of the goal... it was just effective safe.. not so hard

  • lets see u do that

  • Yeah not so hard....for God. Holy crap man that's an amazing save!!!

  • yes it really was amazing save but very common in nhl

  • In playoffs OT of the finals.. that save is huge

  • Oh, i didnt know...I thought that was just season.. In playoff it is amazing =)

  • It wasnt in the finals but it was game 7 of the first round in OT.

  • too bad your english is not so effective....

  • That was his year. To bad they lost game 7 overtime cup finals. I lived in Van that year. Still hurts!

  • that game wasn't in overtime

  • Rofl get your facts straight. This was in OT and since Mclean made this save Pavel Bure got that breakaway to win the series.

  • i obviously know THIS game was in overtime the guy said they lost game 7 in overtime in the FINALS.

  • Ohhh alrite soz I thought you were talking about THIS game.

  • Kipprusoff's save was the best, the 2009 play of the year!!!

  • this is way better than carons save

  • Is this what they call "The Save" by Kirk Mclean?

  • Yup!!

  • Mike Richters saves in the Finals were better.

  • Mclean was one of the last stand up goalies that didn't butterfly.

  • personnally i think carons save was a hundred times better because Mcleans is one u used to see all the time dont get me wrong it was a great (clutch) save but not the best ever

  • This is one of my fav saves ever, Mclean was a stand up goalie, he looked more like billy ranford here but more flawless haha, really though what natural reaction, the first goalie I ever saw like that was Pelle Lindberg for hand eye coordination

  • lol you won't see a goalie stop a puck like that anymore. when's the last time you saw a two pad stack on a play like that? lol

  • Turco, Brodeur

  • Osgood robbed Brett Hull off a one-timer like that. Except Osgood's was better.

  • its a beautiful pad stack save...but this can't be considered anywhere close to the best saves of all time, even if it was game 7.

  • kirk mclean owns but i dont know if its the best save all time and carons save wasnt better!!

  • Sry man, carons save is way better. especially since the goal judge and everyone in the stand thought it went in. and the whole 7 game overtime doesnt make it a better save, it just makes it more clutch.

  • Kirk McLean is like a god. lol he was my hero as a kid.

  • also in Britain we are not poor but there just inst much interest in the game u need colder places for ice hockey to be popular.

  • Tell that to Carolina and their fans.

  • lol

  • horibble quality

  • Learn to spell and we will talk.

  • thats what she said.
