  • Boy you've got some patience. Job more than well done, I'd say.

  • @mariesnowgoose Thanks for the comment. Yes, it was a long job, but I worked at a comfortable pace. Cleaning all those reeds! That was a job. Mike

  • A little late, I somehow missed seeing this when it came up, looks good, sounds good and by golly it does you good. A real pleasure to see and hear, many thanks. :))

  • @leyburnhealeyman Thank you. Yes, it has a beautiful sound - well worth the effort.

  • How wonderful to hear this and guess what? Now I shall have to somehow find an Estey of the same model. Beautiful restoration work! :-)

  • Thank you. The hymn is "Stir Thy Church, O God Our Father," by A.L. Butler.

  • Beautful. What is the music? Improvised?

  • THANK YOU for your comments to me. They are appreciated!!! I'm surprised that you knew of the restoration that I did, and I'm so pleased that I may have had a part in inspiring you to restore yours. Isn't life an adventure!!!! This was one of the very best single manual organs that I've ever worked on. I sincerely hope that you get a lot of joy from the one you restored. These are a true treasure and deserve to be preserved for generations to come. Best wishes. Duane Adams

  • Earlier this year, I completely restored one of these for the Bellfountaine Cemetery Chapel in St. Louis, Mo. The acoustics of that building are PERFECT for the organ. I know of the struggles you would have gone through to make this a perfect organ. GOOD JOB!!!!! Duane Adams

  • @organman49 Well, that's very kind of you. I was aware of the fine work you did on the organ for the Bellefontaine Chapel in St. Louis. In fact, it was one of the prime inspirations for my restoration. Fortunately, the upper action on mine was in decent condition to begin with. If I've accomplished even half the job you did, I'll be happy. Thank you - Mike

  • That looks like a fantastic restoration/rebuild. Beautiful sound. Is that a celeste or the vox humana that I hear. - Larry

  • @behsstlc Thanks, Larry. Registration was Vox Jubilante rank which works in tandum with the Melodia and Dispason ranks. Added to that the 2ft Harp Aeoline rank.

  • 13 sets of reeds is still very impressive, when most reed organs have 2 or 3 , but it reflects in the sound. Especially in the bass range. Estey, IMO, along with Mason & Hamlin, were one of the best makers of Reed Organs. They are such treasures and seem to be a well kept secret ! :)

  • Great video, wonderful sounding instrument. It helps to give me the courage to take on such a project. Beautiful cabinet also. 25 sets of reeds, WOW, that is some organ. Congratulations on it.

  • @Paschalboy Thank you. Very kind of you to comment. Yes, the case is beautiful quarter-sawn oak, original finish. 13 sets of reeds, to clarify. The ones needing the most attention were in the 2ft ranks. I doubt if they'd ever been cleaned before. They're almost microscopic. Mike

  • Excellent pictures and sound! The lower action turned out absolutely perfect! Congratulations on such a fine restoration.

  • @rodneyjantzi Thank you, Rodney. We walk in the footsteps of giants. I hope I've done it justice. Mike

  • BEAUTIFUL work, Michael! I look forward to seeing and hearing more of this instrument as time permits. Congratulations.

  • @Mustel1887 Thank you, Michael, for your comments and encouragement and continued inspiration.
