Those Iranian pilots had real skills and balls of steel...and US training. Since then the IRRIAF has struggled to rebuild its training curiculum.
Indeed, it is the IRGC that holds back the Iranian military. During the '80's it was relegated to using its excellent armored elements, infantry, airborne, and heliborne forces to supporting the poorly trained, understrengthed and dismaly commanded IRGC forces. The IRGC holds more power than ever before and the IRRIAF has struggled to provide addequate pilot training and the navy is still using Vospre Mk 7 frigates to challenge modern western and middle eastern navies.

I do believe that many good Iranians don't want to go to war. They want peace and good relation with it's neighbors and the rest of the world. Try reading Iran-Iraq: War in the Air 1980-88, it was co-written by an Iranian ex-pat and heavily favors the Iranian side of the conflict. You might find it an eye opener. And by the way, the Isrealies weren't inflating the price 40-50%, it was more like 300%.

Firstly, if Russian inovation is so great then why do you also refer to their wepons as being primitive. Second, Iran was receiving more US support than Iraq as well as wepons and spare parts from Isreal. There is also evidence that suggest some cooperation between the Iranian intelligence community and the Isreali Mossad.

Lastly, it was the Iranian air force and navy that had the most success during the war. Take for instance the attack on base H-7 on the western Iraqi boarder. Those Iranian pilots had real skills and balls of steel...and US training. Since then the IRRIAF has struggled to rebuild its training curiculum.
