I never knew Benedict until I watched Sherlock. Although I've seen Atonement before, I was still minblown when I learned that he is in this film. I tried hard to remember who his character was, but to be honest, all that came to mind were the three main characters, and that rape scene. Just imagine how shocked I was after learning that Benedict was actually the creepy rapist I never forgot from this movie.
This just shows how superb his acting prowess truly is.
This really creeped me out :( really love benedict and I can see the difference in charter from him in Sherlock and him in this :/ still creeps me out though
I can't believe that the creators of Sherlock saw him in this role and thought he'd make a perfect Sherlock, but I'm glad they did lol. I like though that he thought the role was eerie. In a strange way, it makes it easier to watch the scene.
it's amazing how that one scene and that one line can be so memorable. The entire movie is amazing, but he is one of the best things about it. Especially with only a few minutes of screen time.
Another point from the commentary - the director made Benedict keep his underpants on in the rape scene . The bottom you see is a digitally created bottom.
I like that Juno was very supportive of him, that must have helped. Marshal must not be an easy character to play.
And I also love the line "Bite it.". The way his tone of voice changes and the aggression in it. First time I saw it it gave me a shiver, somewhere between revulsion and thrill. And it really makes it clear that the whole seemingly innocent dialogue was not so innocent after all. Perfectly played by Juno and Benedict.
@waggers1919 Why is that interesting? The character's a pedophile. I would certainly hope that he found it disturbing. Perhaps I'm not completely understanding your comment, lol.
It's always good when an actor you love so much can actually repulse you while playing a role. That, my friends, is talent.
I love Benedict, but this scene makes me nauseous

Benedict is such a versatile actor! His roles are so diverse but he delivers every time, and idgaf he still looks hot.

"Everything ends in 'O'." "Sounds as if you don't want it, then I shall have to give it to your sister."
Excuse me while I fish my mind out of the gutter.

god, amazing how creepy he can be! O.O he really is a great actor! must have been pretty tough playing such a repulsive character...

This proves Benedict is a genuinely talented actor. How he could make that one line sound so creepy is amazing!

Interesting to me that "bite it" doesn't necessarily have a second meaning, but it sure FEELS like it does. Hint at private nastiness to come...?

@angelbruja I agree with you. I absolutely adore him, but on this movie he is just so hateful, disgusting even.

Earlier in the commentary Joe Wright says Benedict was very annoyed he didnt get to drive the car. They had to use a stunt man!!
