Best ska band of all time IMO. Still listening to them this day. Wish my Mealticket shirt didn't have so many holes in it or I would still be rockin it!
Viva Las Vegas was an industrial warehouse in Orange, CA. It was also the first place I saw Mealticket play. Ignite and Fishbone also played. The guys in Fishbone thought they were gods so they asked the other bands to play on the floor level. Mealticket told them to fuck off.
Anyone else out there remember the club Viva Las Vegas? I was looking thru my old stubs and found some from there. and yea she was a pretty darn cute.
ya saw them there. loved viva las vegas ... damn skin heads got the place shut down ... bunch of racist bastards .. check the other vids on DHC for more people talking about viva las vegas
Always willing to give credit where credit is due man. I miss those days but I know I cant use a delorean and go back. it was fun being able to be like 1 foot away from all the bands of this era let alone you guys. dancing havin a couple beers and just enjoying some good fun. alas slowly the original members of the skatalites are slowly dying and i get sad everytime i hear one does. got to hang w/ doreen lloydb and les sterling at csuf one day in like 96 was like meeting royalty.
my names bill meadows and i played guitar in MT for most of our existence! thanks for all the kind words, im amazed anyone still remembers or listens!!!!!
Of the 3 popular ska bands or hodge podge ska bands to quote crazy tazy I thought this one would have broke above the other 2. for those not into the scene back then it was save ferris(blah blah gross) and of course No Doubt(still a great band). I still remember seeing these guys with RBF, Hippos, Buck O' Nine and other great 90's ska bands. I mean come on how did this not break into mainstream and save ferris did? I guess doing a cover song and being buddies w/ peeps at Epic.
Hands down the best ska band of the 90's. I was lucky to see their very last show at the Troubador on Nov. 15 1997. I will keep that ticket stub for the rest of my life.
Tracy, I too was there. I actually made an album of concerts I went to that year and I had the flyer and pics from that show. I just cant find the album. Hepcat was a good band to see as well. I think I saw Mealticket like 10 times that year. The Barn at Riverside, Orange Fairgrounds in San Bernandino with Skanking Pickle. Those were the days.
their songs are still stuck in my head after all these years! i had bought their CD for $7 and listened to it 1000 times. I still have it... maybe i should put all those songs up here on youtube?
Mealticket is played in my house every day! By far and away the most beautiful voice to ever touch the scene backed by a ska core ensemble as good as any in the late 90s. It is a crying shame that no freaking doubt made money while REAL bands like Mealticket were creaming jeans.
I used to love MT. They had such a fun sound to there music.

This is just sick...This band needs to come back together. I miss the era where ska bands were formed left and right.
