The funniest part was when the puppy happened to pull the skin at the back of the neck, and the cat reacted instinctively by laying down and calming down.

That reflex is from that exhibited by kittens when mama kitty comes and picks them up by the scruff of their neck.

That's part of the reason why the cat was so patient for a long period in the video.

But even after you can tell it was all play, in the way the cat's ears were perked up and in the pause in the middle of the tussle.

Awwww! This has to be one of favourite clips that I've randomly discovered. So cute! I love how the cat is so patient. I agree it is only bad owners generally. I knew a Rotti back in the 90's who was a pub landlord's dog. He was so soft that kids would try to climb on his back and ride him! He never reacted once. @dennisstenfelt They are just playing, if the dog wasnt just playing like all puppies do, the cat is more then capable of defending itself. Ive seen it done MANY times, raising the dog near the cat is way better then seperating them. If they cat didn't like it or was pissed about it or if it became too frightened he would be hissing, clawing scratching biting or running as fast as possible. Even a full grown rottweiler whos not used to cats will not try and take on a full grown cat.
