Anyone know of a series back in the early 60's where the bad guys rode horses, wore helmets and hid out in a cave? I think they had a lightening bolt as a symbol, but not sure of all the details as I was about 6-7 yrs old at the time and living in England.
Ah, those were the days. You could build a rocket ship in the desert, and fly to the moon - no pesky government interference, no photographers, no nuttin....and you even get to take a dame along to "cook your meals." :)
@boogiebuddy01 Yes, practically all sound serials are available, and some of the silent ones as well. You can find places on the web that sell them. A lot of people who sell oldtime radio shows also have these. If you have a large flea market near you, check it out, as someone might have them. You might also check the serialsquadron site on the web.
I'm saying this with total honesty : The special effects for the jet pack and rocket ship flights are freakin' amazing. Computer generated effects are pretty nice, but this is the real thing and you can't even see strings... I mean the guy is flying as straight as a line and he looks real!
This was a saturday afternoon religon the serial then bugs bunny or popeye then a good shootem up western god i miss the local flea house(picture theatre) and it was cheap clean fun
This is better than man serials== despite the fact that the moon has an atmosphere and Cody needs to wear no protective covering over his hands...you know, this was about 35 years before the first moon landing...don't judge history by today's standards.
Nobody copuld be bad better than Howard R. Ravenscroft of Crab Orchard, Nebraska. Only good guy he ever played was in Disney's "Spin and Marty" seies, and as the Sheriff in "Oklahoma" with Gordon McCrae.
RMftM...the best serial ever made, loved 'em when I was a kid! Also liked,The Purple Monster Strikes, and ALL of the Republic serials, the only studio that could do it right!
You are almost right. Nimoy was from Mars in a different serial. The Martians had a rather ambitious project to remove the Earth from its orbit so Mars could then occupy our space. I don't want to spoil it for you so I won't say whether they succeeded or not.
I used to watch this every week at the cinema when I was a boy, it hasn´t lost any of it´s power over the years and is still cutting edge action packed thrill a minute stuff...who needs that modern stuff when you´ve got King of the Rocketmen.

@DeLorean4 The Lydecker Brothers did the FX. They were probably the best in the business at that time. There's some info on the web about them.
