President Clinton had eight years to analyze intelligence and to deal with multiple attacks on American interests overseas (U.S. embassies in Africa, Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, U.S.S. Cole in Yemen, etc). He did nothing. President Bush had less than 8 months to transition and pick up where Clinton left off, and that is when September 11th occurred. Fighting the war "over there" keeps us from fighting it "here," and keeps them on defense. It is a far superior strategy to doing nothing.

The point of this add is wrong. Evil begets evil. You can't kill all the murderers. It completely misses the point in thinking that the alternative to murdering "evil" is to suck up to it. You completely missed the meaning of my metaphor. You're opperating under the assumption that we're killing the people responsible for 9/11. No there is no connection between Saddam and Al Quada. Iraq was attacked because Saddam started trading oil in Euros and America feared that other eastern countries would follow suit and thus cause a lot of trouble for the American economy. Iran has since proposed trading oil in euros. I do believe that criminals should be brought to justice...
but you take the reprecussions of making a retaliation in the wrong direction and not understanding the reason these people hate and fight the occupancy. President Clinton had eight years to analyze intelligence and to deal with multiple attacks on American interests overseas (U.S. embassies in Africa, Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, U.S.S. Cole in Yemen, etc). He did nothing. President Bush had less than 8 months to transition and pick up where Clinton left off, and that is when September 11th occurred. Fighting the war "over there" keeps us from fighting it "here," and keeps them on defense. It is a far superior strategy to doing nothing.

No, insults are not all I have left. Again it seems you underestimate a situation based on your limited perspective (no offence). You're going by what you see and not what is found when you scratch the surface. The small amount I've shared isn't an all-encompassing summary of what I believe so don't say stupid things like I must only condemn Americas wrong-doing because my posts here must somehow cover everything simultaneously...

Saying this war prevented further attacks is like saying you have a rock that prevents tigers from attacking. There's so much I would have to explain to you that there really isn't time. Nor do I think you could accept the truth if you heard it. I don't believe a countries policies are reflective of it's entire population any more than I feel Iraq deserves to pay for the acts of Al Quada. Preemptive strike out of fear of someone's beliefs is a very dangerous path to drudge down....

We both want to prevent the loss of innocent life but we can't seem to agree on what path would best ensure that. We both want to have love and respect for all humanity but are afraid of those who do not. You must not fear for fear of something attracts it unto you. We're in this situation now whether we like it or not. Let's just pray for all our sake that it somehow works itself out.

(cont.) and I'm sure tyou think there's no connection, but you'd be blatantly wrong. I would agree that we both want the same thing, but that our means to that end differ. In a way, you've justified my point by saying that showing fear will only give what what you fear more strength. That fear must be confronted, and not bowed down to or you will lose life and liberty. I will join you in that prayer that all works out well, but remember that God won't help those who don't first help themselves.

Tigers and rocks? Tigers will attack for good reason (defense or food,) and a rock will not stop it. Better example would be a trying to stop a rapist/murderer with a gun. Yes, that will prevent him. Again with the elitist arguments...if you have a point, I'll give it to you. Unfortunately, from what you've said up to this point, I'm not. As far as Iraq is concerned, we went in to remove Saddam. Their people are much better for it. I'm sure they'd agree if asked. Iraq followed 9/11. cont.

You completely missed the meaning of my metaphor. You're opperating under the assumption that we're killing the people responsible for 9/11. No there is no connection between Saddam and Al Quada. Iraq was attacked because Saddam started trading oil in Euros and America feared that other eastern countries would follow suit and thus cause a lot of trouble for the American economy. Iran has since proposed trading oil in euros. I do believe that criminals should be brought to justice...

but you take the reprecussions of making a retaliation in the wrong direction and not understanding the reason these people hate and fight the occupancy. You have to know who your enemy is otherwise you just create more for yourself. It's not so far fetched an idea to persuade rather than coerce. I believe we had more than enough intelligence to think of an alternate solution before this war started. Perhaps that chance is gone now.

On the contrary, I think I have a very broad perspective...I just don't include dying-for-nothing as part of that perspective, and please don't use the condescending elitist tactic that I would never understand what you, as an enlightened one would. On a final note in regards to "confronting" fear. Confronting fear means not allowing it to control your actions or skew your judgement. If you have a fear of killer bees it's probably not a good idea to go to their hives with a stick as a method of being brave. They CAN kill you, but they probably won't unless you're provoking them. The arab world is a bees nest that American foreign policy has bashed with a stick. Before AND after 9/11. Problem is... We might ALL get stung.

Oh and, by the way, using Albright, who's probably most famous for saying that 500,000 dead babies in Iraq was an adequate price to pay for that country's freedom, is a truly poor choice to represent the Democratic Party, since that line follows what Bush/Cheney have been doing. Zucker can't even get his target of humor right.
