Nuair a fheiceann tú ar rud éigin mar seo, caithfidh tú smaointiú cad chuige nach bhfuil an theanga álainn sin ag gach duine amháin sa thír seo? Thar barr.
Turas Teanga, send me a message and I'll give you a list of books and resources. This is a Kerry accent, this style of singing agallamh beirte/lubíní is from Cork/Kerry
@lughlamh Níl an ceart agat ansin a dhuine.... this is most definitively Cork (Múscraí) Gaeltacht area 'accent'... indeed this is evident with every phrase... Up the Rebels!
Tá an cheart agat ar ndoigh a bhúachaill, mo náire is Corcaíoch me féin, .. do bhíos as bhaile ag eisteach le Gaeilge garb na Gaillimhe ag an am, seachas Gaoiline binn ceólmhar na Mumhain cibe contae agus ní chualas an difríocht
This is a lúibín or a dialogue song in the Irish language. The people of Muskerry (Cork/Kerry border) are unmatched in this art and they've proved it at nearly every Oireachtas na Gaeilge competition! The songs are about a fictional albeit funny situation or an elaboration on a true event set to a traditional air. This is Dairmaid Ó Súilleabháin and it looks like an Ó Lionáird.
@ohairt ................ clarification, Eoiní (Maidhcí) Ó Súilleabháin (foxy beard) is the brother of the late Diarmuid Ó Súilleabháin you mention, probably a typo on your part, c'est pas grave, and no níl éinne de mhuintir Lionáird sa cheann seo, it's Seán Ó Liatháin with a fine folt of hair singing opposite Eoiní in this Lúibín.

Any idea what the lyrics are about? (I haven't learned much Irish beyond the "Ta an madra ag an tsagart" variety.)
